The air was filled with excitement and anticipation as the Jewish community in the Five Towns gathered for Chabad’s 28th Annual Lag BaOmer Celebration on Tuesday, May 9.
The Andrew J. Parise Park in Cedarhurst, New York, transformed into a vibrant hub of joy, camaraderie, and Jewish pride as families, friends, and neighbors joined together to commemorate the special holiday of Lag BaOmer.
The outdoor event boasted a host of exciting activities that delighted the young and the young at heart. Kids couldn’t contain their excitement as they interacted with furry friends at the Archery Petting Zoo. The adorable animals brought smiles to the faces of both children and adults alike, fostering a sense of connection with nature and its beauty.
For those seeking a thrill, inflatable bounce houses and slides provided endless fun and laughter. Children delighted in the colorful play structures, soaring through the air and experiencing the exhilarating feeling of weightlessness.
A focal point of the celebration was the magnificent bonfire that captivated the crowd, following the tradition of Lag BaOmer. Attendees also indulged in a barbeque spread, savoring juicy burgers, hot dogs, and a variety of delectable treats.
One noteworthy moment was when the organizer Shliach Rabbi Zalman Wolowik learned that one of the performers of the Acrobats of Cirque-tacular was Jewish and put on Tefillin with him.
The event was made possible through the dedicated efforts of the Chabad of the Five Towns staff and volunteers, as well as the generous support of the community. Their collective commitment to spreading positivity and enhancing Jewish life shone brightly, ensuring that the spirit of Lag BaOmer burned brightly in the hearts of all who attended.
