As we all are still absorbing the spiritual effect emanating from Yom Simchaso Shel Rashbi, unbeknown to many, the New York State Board of Education has currently proposed new guidelines that will undermine the foundation and future of our education system. The government is once again proposing to tamper with our pure chinuch. Requiring us to adapt aspects that are not in accordance with our Mesora and way of life.
In the spirit of tremendous achdus, all of the Anash schools of Crown Heights gathered for an emergency meeting. There is but one goal- to join forces and form a unified front against these terrible regulations and Gzeira!
As we have seen in the past, and as the Rebbe has highlighted many times, together we are stronger, and will not let the ongoing relentless campaign against our traditional Yiddishe way deter us g-d forbid.
The event was emceed by Rabbi Mendel Blau of Oholei Torah, the principals were addressed by Rabbi Yossi Langsam of United Lubavitcher Yeshiva, community activist R’ Avi Lesches, R’ Sholom Goldstein of Beis Rivkah, Rabbi Mendel Yusewitz of Ohr Menachem, Rabbi Levi Plotkin of Beis Chaya Mushka. The group also heard from professionals on some of the next steps that will be taken to bring awareness of this issue to the community at large.
The meeting was concluded with a passionate plea by Tzivos Hashem head general, Rabbi Shimmy Weinbaum. Rabbi Weinbaum stressed upon all principals the significant role that they and their staff will play in helping to get this message out to the students and parents.

NYC cannot stand the fact that our children stand out in NYC amongst the highest functioning, well adjusted, and most likely to achieve success in living a wholesome life, raising a family, being law abiding and responsible community members and being able to hold a job. We have some of the highest rates of successful entrepreneurship- and this from those whose entire education was yeshiva. They cannot stand that our children have a fraction of the serious issues that plague such a huge percentage of children in the public school system including drugs, violence, and destructive relationships. They can’t see… Read more »
but,,,,,its,good,to,also,know,english,and,math
How is that working out in the public schools? Seems the yeshiva kids end up with a better English and Math.
And outside of the Yeshiva framework. Time shouldn’t be taken from limudei kodesh for those.
Family and kids – this is the target. They simply want to destroy the main principal of the Torah education – to raise a child and have a family. When public schools teaching the child about 16! different type of who is who( she, he, and 14 other definitions of she & he ) – the possibility of having a family with mother & father and kids is zero. We are not taking about the success… Sorry but CH PUBLIC SCHOOLS ARE LOW RATED, to change this data, the government will use Eshiva grades…. I’m ok with math, some chemistry… Read more »
You’re right
Don’t you New Yorkers realize, the government already has a hand in your yeshivas?!? They can decide which kids can be in yeshiva and which not, since 2019… So then they decided which kids can be yeshiva, and now, they want to decide which teachers can teach in yeshiva… Where were you all then??? It’s ok for the government to decide which kids can learn Torah?? This is a gezeirah!! Maybe if all these menahalim will get together and apologize to those 500 kids that were thrown out of yeshiva in 2019, (because then “it was ok” for the government… Read more »
Yes THIS THIS THIS! That is exactly what opened the door to what’s taking place now!
You are so right. It’s just so sad. Maybe if there would be some sort of apology, the gzeira would be battel!
With all due respect, you are wrong. The schools need to follow the law of the land, and the law of the land was that the State with overwhelming support removed the religious exemption for students in all NYS schools. This was in response to a measles outbreak that was primarily within the Jewish community, and was spreading to the non Jewish community. The old anti-Semitic tropes that we carry diseases seemed to be correct. So, to avoid a further chillul hashem the schools adapted the rules that the State Assembly, Senate and Governor proposed and passed. To add to… Read more »
These same people should have been up in arms about the goverment deciding that a upshirnish boy who haven’t received a flu shot isnt worthly of attending cheder ! And should have done whatever they could have to protest it and encouraged otherwise to do the same! Just as they are now..For that reason ALONE they should have stood with the same vigor as they are now! Hashem couldn’t have SOME of his children in school. A mere 6 months later ALL children were denied by this same Goverment the right to in person learning! And now this! Some people… Read more »
there are still yeshivas stating that if the rav tells them to vaccinate kids..they will comply

David, You are missing the point. It is not about teaching English, math or science. It is about the State coming in and telling us what the school and cannot do overall. What will stop them from imposing a liberal set of ideals and teachings that we as a community might not agree with? Would you be ok if they demand we teach about lifestyles, gender to name a few? Ronald Regan said the most freighting words any American wants to hear is that “I am from the government, and I am here to help you.” We do not want… Read more »
Is the point. Follow the curricula and there’s no issue. Educate your children
I don’t believe the state of New York should have the right to mandate private education, but at the same time the schools should take it upon themselves to provide basic skills so they boys that are not “learners”, won’t fall into depression and off the derech.
Have you not heard of all of the terrible testimonies of boys that suffered because of this?
The beauty about this campaign is the unity is has brought. We stand together with Chabad, Litvish, Chassidic, Sephardic and modern orthodox in our stand against the State in intervening in what we can and cannot teach in our schools. Our schools are not perfect, but they definitely have come a long way since the days I was a student there. I am a graduate of Ohoeli Torah and proud of it. I finished the Yeshiva system, went to college and have a professional career. I have friends who were not made for the Yeshiva system, and yes some of… Read more »
Where were these administrators when literally hundreds of kids were thrown out of their yeshivas in 2019 because they didn’t have the hep A shot (an STD)?! Why are they waking up now?!
You maybe be right, but this is not the time nor the place to have this discussion. Right now, our education system which helps to instill in our youth the fundamentals, beliefs and ideals is at risk. If we allow the State to mandate what and who can teach in our schools, what will stop them from pushing liberal ideas like lifestyle, gender etc? One of the things that has kept the Jewish people from extinction is our values, way of life and most importantly the education of our youth. This is something we cannot compromise on, not now or not… Read more »
