Sherre Hirsch, a renowned leader in the Conservative Jewish movement, and Chief Innovation Officer of the American Jewish University, interviewed the world-renowned teacher and lecturer Rabbi YY Jacobson.
Sherre, who led the largest Conservative congregation on the West Coast, was eager to understand how Chabad relates to Reform and Conservative Jews; how Chabad flourishes so many years after Gimmel Tamuz; and how the Rebbe impacted people so deeply.
The 47-minute riveting interview explores some of the fundamental ideas behind the Chabad movement, its spirituality, and its approach to life; the reasons for its recent astounding growth in the Jewish world, and how it continues to flourish even more than two decades after the passing of the Rebbe.
It also deals with the future of Judaism, Chabad’s views on secular Jews, skills about leadership one can learn from the Rebbe, how do we define a religious Jew, and how the Rebbe’s hour-long talks were memorized and transcribed.
