Chabad was in attendance at Umhlanga, South Africa’s 22nd Marathon, supporting the runners, their families and support teams.
Participants of the annual 87k m run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg were greeted by Chabad’s “Mitzvahs on the Move”. They were invited to stop and put on Tefillin, give a few coins to Charity (Tzedaka), saying Blessings (Brachas) over drinks fruit and vegetables or biscuits, or saying the traveler’s prayer.
Prior to the big day, Jewish runners from around the world enjoyed a Comrades Shabbos with international guest speakers, catered meals great Shul service with warm hospitality.
This year, the Chabad team put on Tefillin with 41 runners 13 supporters and interacted with hundreds of runners, supporters and spectators.
