In the wake of recent violent anti-Semitic hate crimes, Chicago Jews are training up — and praying their tactical knowledge never has to be used. “CCL Shul Members” is an organization that unites Jewish Concealed Carry License holders from across Chicagoland to promote the safe and lawful possession and use of firearms.
“Throughout our long history of persecution, Jews have rarely been given the right to defend ourselves from those who wish us harm,” said Chaim Naiditch, the group’s founder. “We are blessed to live in a country where Jews have equal rights, and it is our mission to ensure that these rights are used responsibly to defend ourselves, our families, and our places of worship.”
Following the 2013 Firearm Concealed Carry Act in Illinois, many Jewish people privately applied for — and received — CCLs. While firearms training is a requirement in order to obtain a CCL, the organization’s founders recognized a need for more advanced and situation-specific training to ensure that all those who chose to carry would be able to responsibly and effectively use them, should the need ever arise.
“CCL Shul Members came into being to fill a need,” said Naiditch. “Many Jews have chosen to arm themselves in self-defense, and we were founded to provide high-level, standardized training to ensure we’re all on the same page, and that we’re doing everything we can to ensure we are defending what we hold most dear in a responsible way.
The multi-level courses offered by the group are provided by highly qualified trainers, including Illinois Police and SWAT trainers. Monthly get-togethers ensure members are consistently keeping their skills sharp, and include guest speakers to keep participants up-to-date and educated.
“While we pray we will never have to use our weapons, our training ensures that we have the tools to defend ourselves against those who wish us harm,” said Naiditch.

The chances of the this helping in an active shooter situation are slim. There is no need to promote the use of firearms.
The chances of well trained Jews being harmed by their own firearms is even slimmer
Sadly the bad guys are utzu eitza (vesufar!) and there’s no reason not to take appropriate precautions, and we also wish to be prepared for untoward developments going forward r’l.
If someone can shoot the shooter why is that reckless? Is it better to hide under chairs and wait to be shot?
What is your opinion based on? Why do you think it is impossible for ordinary people to receive advanced training in the use of firearms and defensive mindset and tactics? Do you have any facts to back up your opinion, or are you just speaking out of irrational fear and ignorance? I suspect the latter.
How advanced is this training really? How does it compare to law enforcement or military training?
The average person does not need to know how to live in the jungle without food rations while camouflaged and shooting passing enemy troops.
They don’t need to know how to find the range and wind speed to shoot a shell over half a mile to hit a target.
All they need to know is how to safely store a gun and take it out and fire at a threat from usually no more then 20 feet or fewer.
That is basic firearms training, not “advanced”.
Then explain the recent shooting at a church in Texas. Which was stopped by a good man with a gun, many lives were saved there that day.
The same is true at the tragic Poway Chabad house shooting in where there were good people with guns which saved many Yidden from a massacre.
what you are saying is delusional and defies logic, unfortunately, there are many people like you out there and which cringe at the sight of a firearm even if it’s there to protect your life.
In both incidents you mention, they were highly trained FBI or DHS agents.
not the one in Texas. Anyway, this is what the organization is trying to accomplish by training them
Woah,
I thought Chicago was a bad as NYC for 2a rights. Am I missing something? Can we do that here?
you ain’t getting a license in NYC so while you can get trained by going out to Jersey you will still not have a license to carry
Great Job keep up the good and holy work!
