Saving Lives Five Towns Drug & Alcohol Coalition (SLFT) is seeking to hire a part-time Community Outreach Coordinator. The Drug Free Communities Coalition Coordinator will facilitate the implementation of community prevention strategies in support of SLFT's mission under the auspices of The Marion & Aaron Gural JCC. The Coalition Coordinator reports to and works in conjunction with the Director of Substance Abuse Prevention, Awareness and Education. Desired applicants are outgoing individuals who are passionate about community support to address youth mental health and reducing the impact and incidence of substance use among youth.
This role works 30 hours a week, schedule is flexible.
JOB DUTIES:
◦ Work with Coalition membership and assist with Coalition communications.
◦ Maintain data of Coalition activities & assist with grant/coalition recordkeeping
◦ Coordinate school/community events.
◦ Assist with print & maintain social media.
◦ Successfully coordinate and execute regular coalition meetings and disseminates meeting minutes in timely fashion.
◦ Develop skills as needed through Coalition trainings
◦ Other job-related duties as assigned
E Requirements
Years of experience: 2-3
QUALIFICATIONS:
◦ Bachelor's degree and/or relative years of experience in prevention work, health promotion, public health, social work, or any related field.
◦ Ability to organize, coordinate and collaborate with cross-sector community coalitions and diverse populations. Knowledge of Orthodox Jewish Community and customs a plus.
◦ Actively participates in implementing coalition activities, including professional conferences, town hall meetings, community forums, after school youth and summer programs, and other events.
◦ Develop strong community support and collaborative partnerships with other agencies and sectors
◦ History of working with a teenage population a plus
◦ Experience with community organizing, program development, substance use disorder, behavioral health, or work in the human service field a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
◦ Outgoing personality, excellent verbal, written, organizational and communication skills
◦ Microsoft Programs including Word, Excel, Power Point
◦ Proficiency with social media
