Mazal Tov, indeed.
Democratic candidate Brian Cunningham won the special election on Tuesday to represent the 43rd district in the New York State Assembly.
He was backed by the Jewish PAC “Crown Heights United” and residents came out to vote for him throughout the day, despite initial technical errors at the ballot which were resolved.
“I’m honored that the people of District 43 have selected me to serve them in Albany,” Cunningham tweeted after the election.
“I’m ready to wake up tomorrow and get to work on all of the progressive issues we need to move forward. We have a lot to do to improve our communities and I don’t want to waste a single second.”
Cunningham was seen celebrating with members of both the African American and Jewish communities, representing the diversity of the famous Brooklyn neighborhood.
Among them were Chanina Sperlin and Eli Cohen of the CHJCC, activists Yaacov Behrman, Avi Lesches, Yankee Pearson and others.
Prior to the election, Cunningham toured the neighborhood and shared his commitment to protect Yeshiva education. He also addressed safety with adjustments to Criminal Justice laws, and to promote additional housing for the community.
another demorat that will destroy our great country and community
Fast forward a year, two years, 5 years, etc. Does anybody track all the PROMISES made by these ENDORSED candidates and then follow up?
We see lots of smiling photo ops, lots of sit-down meals with plenty of food, cutesy video clips, etc.
What promises are being fed to the community and are the promises being kept? Otherwise it looks awful silly to keep doing the same thing over and over–endorsing promise-makers who are not helping our community.
As a non NY resident it appears that running after these candidates for photo ops makes us look groveling and silly.
“I’m ready to wake up tomorrow and get to work on all of the progressive issues we need to move forward. We have a lot to do to improve our communities and I don’t want to waste a single second.”
That’s who we voted for???
It is beyond me why these community “leaders” support the Left. Their agenda is the destruction of communities like ours, yet they blindly follow them off the cliff. I just don’t get it.
Why do we keep voting for these Democrats??
Do they ever keep their promises…i feel like who ever these people say to vote for, do the opposite
Wake up crown heights !!! How can you support these people ? I guess it doesn’t affect them as long as they getting their government help !!!
Instead of asking why we are voting for these democrats let’s get out there and start voting republican other then this photo ops that these good for nothing askonim who DO NOT represent the community let’s get out and start with the republican Lee zeldin running for governor and othere so we can get rid of this cancer called democrats
It’s easy to keep the status quo that local officials have to be democrat, but the easy thing is not always the right thing. We know who is really on our side.
It does no good for the community PAC to support a candidate who isn’t going to get elected. They need to support the best candidate who has a chance to win, even if that’s not an ideal candidate.
For all those people asking why are we voting for progressive candidates, first of all in this special election there are only progressive candidates so we have to choose the one that is least progressive from the group, second it’s not just about this election it’s about showing the politicians that we are organized and that we can vote in big numbers, and we are a force that has to be reckoned with if they want to receive our votes in the future. An other point is, that sometimes when there is a candidate that is good for our community… Read more »
Stop telling everyone to vote Democrat I don’t know who died and put these people in charge telling us who to vote for the very fact that we put this person in according to these do nothing askonim who were not elected to represent any of us I think we as a big strong voting block that we can be to start voting republican And really do the right thing even if some of you won’t have a photo op to link some tush that will get our community more crime and less freedom
If rental prices were just a bit less outrageously expensive.. perhaps we would have enough people living here to vote in someone who would represent OUR community.. as well as all those who want safe streets, arrests for crimes against our community, no homeless shelters placed directly where our children and families live, less targeted ticket issuing, and honest spending on our infrastructure needs.
And therefore I don’t follow their voting recommendations.
I voted Republican.
I wish other Crown Heightsers who are frustrated with the CHCC not listen to their voting recommendations anymore.
Do your own research and vote for the candidate who represents YOU.
I’m looking forward to boots to ground campaign for the upcoming June primary and general elections. He is a really good guy! he cares, not just pandering for votes. The candidate that Myrie/ Richardson is promoting is a far left radical / Myrie is too! from that mistake we cant underestimate our voting bloc in primary/special elections!. We learned the hard way after losing Former Senator moderate Jessie Hamilton
