Family and friends of R’ Eli and Sara Blachman of Crown Heights gathered for the beginning of the writing of a new Sefer Torah on Wednesday.

The Torah is being written in honor of the 70th birthday of R’ Eli Blachman on 12 Teves and the 70th birthday of his wife, Sara Blachman, on 9 Tishrei.

The Torah is also in honor of their children, grandchildren and איה great grandchild ka”h.

The evening began with R’ Eli reciting a Maamer and was addressed by Rabbi Chaim Fogelman and the Sofer Rabbi Moshe Klein.
