A number of Crown Heights residents and businesses have been virtually disconnected today, desperately searching for alternative methods of connection to the world wide web.
Subscribers of Optimum Online internet service remain unplugged for hours on Wednesday. They didn’t receive any indication when the service will resume.
“When we called Optimum in the morning about the outage, they told us it should be repaired by 12, then we called again and were told 3 pm,” a customer told COLlive.com. “But it is now 4:30 and we are still offline.”
Optimum’s parent company Altice is a cable television provider/multiple system operator with headquarters in New York City, with broadband, pay television, telephone services and Wi-Fi hotspot access to approximately 4.9 million residential and business customers in 21 states.
As of 4:30 pm, the company had updated their systems to respond automatically via a recorded message, telling customers that they are aware of the problem and are working to fix it, but they did not include an approximate time when it should be restored.
What provider do you use?
Is fios better? Anyone know?
At around 6:30 this evening
They charge crazy expensive prices for mediocre service, and many are stuck with them.
