When the Yeshiva Ketana of Cergy in France announced a gala dinner in support of their 2-year-old institution, they were aiming for a crowd of 50 people.
The dinner was going to be held at a hotel near Paris and was going to support the Yeshiva that has 28 bochurim learning there.
By the time the event began, a crowd of 150 people was present. And from the beginning, participants were willing to donate funds to the Yeshiva.
In fact, throughout the evening, close to 340,000 euros were raised for the Yeshiva to purchase a new dormitory. Donors were given coins and dollars received from the Rebbe.
The Yeshiva is led by Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Davidovich, menahel ruchni Rabbi Shmuel Lubecki, menahel gashmi Rabbi Menachem Mendel Davidovich. Dinner organizer R’ Shlomo Ohayon said the dinner was an outstanding success.
Speakers at the event included Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Pevzner, Shliach and Director of the Sinai Institutions in Paris; Rabbi Binyomin Mergi, Shliach and Director of Beis Chana in Paris. Both praised the Yeshiva and the bochurim they were educating.
