A group of 80 men and women from Brazil took what they call ‘The Spiritual Trip,’ spending a few days of inspiration and learning in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.
Coming from the cities of Rio de Janeiro, S. Paulo, Curitiba and Belém, they spent four days in the Rebbe’s neighborhood visiting sites such as the Rebbe’s room and library, the Mei Chaya Mushka Mikvah, and of course, a highlight, the Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens.
The group was led by Rabbi Ilan Stiefelmann and his wife Deby of Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, and Rabbi Eliahu Stiefelmann of S. Paulo.
The visitors were treated to special lectures by Rebbe’s Mazkir Rabbi Leibel Groner and many other inspiring people.
On Shabbos they had the pleasure to eat meals by families who opened their houses and their hearts to give them a beautiful Shabbos experience.
“Many of these people came with almost no connection to religious life,” Rabbi Eliahu Stiefelmann told COLlive, “but they left Crown Heights with the firm decision to grow in Yiddishkeit,” he said.
Participants shared they had taken on good resolutions to increase in their Judaism in the areas of Kashrus, Tefillin, Mikvah, Shabbos and others.
“Throughout the trip, many hachlatos were made and many tears were shed – tears of emotion and change,” Rabbi Stiefelmann said.
