Jerusalem pride and family spirit was in the air as the Friendship Circle of Central Jerusalem community, under he direction of shluchim Rabbi Eli and Chana Canterman, paraded from the world famous Mamilla avenue, through the streets of Jerusalem, to Sokolov park.
Greeting the children and their families was a rally while they enjoyed ices and snacks. Shalom Peretz led the children in song and enthralled them with stories connected to the celebration of Lag Ba’Omer.
Promptly the world renowned Georgian circus made a grand performance to the cheering children. Flipping, spinning and balancing, the crowd was in awe clapping and encouraging the performers.
Around the park were dotted carnival stands including “find the pennies”, “guess the chocolate chips”, popcorn and cotton candy, and Jerusalem’s favourite face painter Layla Shemesh.
Fresh barbecued chicken, hot dogs and burgers kept the crowd satiated as they went from booth to booth. With music playing, children laughing and parents and grandparents enjoying the glorious weather, it was an event exhibiting the atmosphere of Ahavas Yisroel so in line with Lag Ba’Omer.
The sun bouncing off Jerusalem’s white stone gave it the perfect touch. In keeping with Friendship Circles spirit, kol yaldei yisrael, whether in wheelchairs or wearing glasses, everyone had a perfect day.
