I agree that the song shouldn’t have been played there.
I disagree with your stance on participating in political events. As a Frum political YouTuber, I constantly get asked how any Jew (especially Orthodox Jews) can vote Democrat when the Left is against a lot of things which we support.
It’s a Chillul Hashem not to openly support Trump.

Not necessarily was it Lubavitchers playing the music. I was at the ohel the other night and a few breslov chassidim came in and started singing “ uman uman Rosh Hashanah “… and one person even took a piece of a ripped up pan out of the rebbes tzion and wrote נ נח נחמ נחמן ״ “ on it and walked out.

It could very well have been a non Lubavitcher who also has no respect for the rebbe and started playing it.

We could judge a person favorably… maybe the person that chose to play the song wasn’t a lubavicher and didn’t really know the significance of the song and how the rebbe felt about politics, with no malicious intentions . Maybe they saw an opportunity to use a song that they felt was joyful to bring joy to all the yidden that were there. instead of using this as an opportunity to bash people for using the wrong song why don’t we use this as an opportunity to teach them about the Rebbe, and what he stood for though the teachings… Read more »

what he taught us – in this case – CHABAD IS NOT POLITICAL. And the Rebbe
has his reasons – our goal has to be – everything for the sake of spreading yiddisheit, And the Rebbe said business is not to be mixed with spreading
Yiddishkeit stuff – it just wont work

The Rebbe wanted everyone to vote. However,t he Rebbe never endorsed any candidate with the exception of the election in Israel in 1988. By voting, you are doing several mitvos. This election is not a political choice. It’s the final showdown between Kedusha Vs. Klippa.
Will we have a world world that G-d is welcome or not?
Will we put back millions of Jews under the threat of an Iranian nuclear attack?
Will we allow them to split Yerushalaim where we get west Jerusalem and they get Har Habais and the Makom Hamikdash thereby preventing the Geulah?
Lets not forget the Alter Rebbe literally gave his life to fight Napoleon because he represented atheism!

There’s room for differences of opinion as to which candidate will be a better leader for the US or the world at large. The inability to acknowledge that other people can have valid viewpoints, even if you disagree, is the essence of sinas chinam (which is the source of all kelipah and galus). Every person (Lubavitchers included) is entitled to to have a ln opinion on politics and support whomever they’d like.

As a voting block frum jews don’t benefit from being known to support a specific party.

Chabad as a movement and organization always was, and must remain non political.

October 26, 2020 12:38 am

There is no question. It was a Chilul Hashem. You see that in the reaction it provoked. And you see it in the story now spreading across national and international news. Shame on you, each of you, every person who participated. And, it was pointless. You did not change one vote, and you are not going to change any vote, and it is not your business to change any vote. Your only accomplishment was confrontation, and getting egged on camera while pretending to be a chassid. In doing that you undermine everything the Rebbe worked for, and the very core… Read more »

It wasn’t a Chillul Hashem. I live and work in a non-Jewish dominated community and city. We get a minyan together maybe once or twice a month, not for lack of trying. When I speak to people out here they can’t understand why Jews would not vote for Trump because of what he has done for Israel. I keep having to be ashamed to admit they vote D because of government handouts, since I don’t see any other reason to vote for a group that doesn’t believe in religion, wants to force religious people to live their lives according to… Read more »

We are in desperate need of ahavas chinom, not the opposite c”v

People will always see things differently

In a polarized environment we should strive to find common ground with each other

Let’s focus on brining Moshiach closer

Let’s each improve first and foremost in our ahavas Yisroel and personal avoda in Torah, Davening and doing acts of kindness

As mosai it’s ENOUGH we need to cry out for the Geulah!!!

The world has known too much pain. It’s time that we change our attitude and start truly loving our fellow

A great part of Chsbad’s huge success is that it is apolitical…i.e. makes no public statements.
Thus after the fact…they aren’t judged or seen as adversaries …that would hinder their work chasvshalom
The Rebbe to made that clear.

To the Biden supporters out there, So far we live in a democracy and you have the right to choose whichever candidate you want. As Biden is only a puppet (he’s being used by the extreme Left, just see who is ‘running mate’ is), it looks like we won’t be living in a democracy much longer, if he wins. He being used is really a case of elder-abuse. He doesn’t know if he’s coming or going. I really dont think it is appropriate to make statements like…”it is a chillul Hashem not to vote XYZ…or that it is against the religion to vote XYZ…” All these positions are borne from emotions, and not rooted in reality. There is a clear break down here of strong arming people if they have rational reasoning behind voting one way or another. It is a vote, freedom of choice who to vote for…it is a freedom of America who a person votes for…

First of all, it should be an obligation to vote. So many people like to complain about how things are, but turns out a lot of them never voted to begin with. If they had, it might have made a difference.

In this case, it’s no longer a political issue. We are actually talking about the future face of the nation and, by extension, the world. If the most powerful nation in the world becomes a weak, left-wing, anti-moral (forget religious) country, we will no longer be safe.

Time for Moshiach. Maybe we should put him on the ballot!

Yes I agree wrong to play the Niggun. However Participation in the parade was a good idea but not done totally correct. The participants should have done so for the sake of Mivtzoyim. They missed a golden opportunity to spread The Rebbe’s message of Geulah now. In this case this year it is important to show Hakoras Hatov to A President who has done so much on behalf of Klal Yisroel & has tried to make this country better. An enormous amount is at stake in this election. The opposition is Anti American anti Semitic Anti Freedom & in truth… Read more »

Igros Kodesh, Vol. 20, p. 243 Based on this letter, it would seem that prior to the vote acting as brashly as people have been is not the “right” method…CH is in NYC which is a democrat city, which means it ought to be incumbent on the locals to appease the local government who can in the long run (and who have in the long run) benefitted them. Therefore acting brashly, and possibly making a chillul Hashem in the process, and then blaming the non Jewish locals for judging you is childish, and not well thought out…No one will disagree… Read more »

We have lost our focus as a community. We don’t turn to our rabbonim but we turn to conservative right wing talk show hosts and this affects our way of thinking. We no longer have the sensitivity of what Torah wants from us and think that torah is in line with Christian thinking. But it’s not! We need to refocus on what does torah want and how will this affect Torah yidden.

I would hardly call Crown Heights “Conservative”. There are few places in the United States with higher concentrations of welfare recipients — and I’m not just referring to the Afro-Caribbean folks. There are however no shortage of people who play Conservatives while accepting Medicaid (socialized single payer healthcare), food stamps, Earned Income Tax credits, and Section 8 (redistributions of wealth, aka “Socialism”). In fact, I would hardly call Donald Trump and the current crop of obsequious Republicans “Conservatives” at all. In 4 short years, they have more than doubled the deficit, added over seven trillion dollars to the national debt,… Read more »

Read the democratic party platform- it’s online. Their ideals are goals go against the sheva mitzvos. That is not good for the U.S.
Then read the republican platform. We should be backing them because of their support for the sheva mitzvos.
The parade was right after parshas Noach. It could have been an opportunity to promote the sheva mitzvos. The song that should have played is one about the sheva mitzvos. Maybe make another parade for the sheva mitzvos.
