The Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel, a one-hundred-year-old landmark building in the heart of Scranton, Pennsylvania, is hosting a Shavuos Getaway event with guest speaker Rabbi Shais Taub.
Constructed in 1908, the historic building originally served as a train station for more than half-century. Its grand lobby is two and a half stories tall with an ornamented mosaic tile floor, a barrel-vaulted Tiffany stained-glass ceiling and rare Siena marble walls. Last summer, a $3 million dollar major remodel was completed, with new beds, wall-coverings, flooring and furniture.
The Shavuos event is organized and hosted by Pocono Kosher Gourmet, a division of Chabad in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, directed by Rabbi Benny and Chany Rapoport, which offers ski shabbatons, year-round kosher catering and hospitality.
Featuring an eclectic and diverse menu including a lavish dairy Kiddush in the grand lobby, festive yom tov meals with creative dishes that will tease your palette, elegant breakfast buffets with an array of fresh and healthy choices, and a 24-hour tea room. The culinary program is overseen and prepared by Pocono Kosher Gourmet’s designated chefs with over 30 years experience in restaurants and fine dining. All meals are served in the grand ballroom.
Guests who attended recent events at the Radisson have raved about the service, quality and organization. “Great hotel and killer service,” said one from the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Another, from Passaic, NJ, said they come every year because, “the food is simply beautiful and delicious!
A guest from Crown Heights who attended the Shabbos Getaway at the Radisson in January, observed the diverse crowd of attendees — modern, yeshivish, chassidish and Chabad – and commented “the warmth, hospitality and feeling of achdus is truly special… I would call this a ‘Shabbos get-together not a Shabbos Getaway!’”
Organizers of the program boast that the hospitality offered is unique; guests enjoy a gourmet experience at affordable – and unbeatable — rates.”
Rabbi Benny Rapoport, who oversees the hashgacha, said that the highest standards of kashrut are followed. “We designate a mashgiach at all times both during prep and meal service,” he said. “Everything is strictly pas Yisroel, cholov Yisroel and chassidish shechita.”
This year’s Shavous event features inspirational talks by renowned author, speaker and columnist for Ami magazine, Rabbi Taub. Entertainment during meals by the premier acapella group from Yeshiva University “Y-Studs,” and tefilos led by chazzan/singer R’ Shea Rubinstein.
The Lackawanna Radisson Station Hotel is located in downstown Scranton, a short walk from parks, attractions, three shuls and mikvah.
There is a lot to do in northeastern Pennsylvania both indoor and out! From rope-climbing to rafting, bike-trails, horseback riding, paintball, escape rooms, waterparks and so much more.

The Rapports are
Truly amazing .
They are kind
and awesome.
I’m slightly confused, is it $399 (early bird) each for a couple so $798 total or do you also have to pay $360 for the 3 nights of the room so the total would be $1158?
(Early bird pricing for 2 adults) Please respond with how you are figuring the pricing, thank you!)
Benny and Chani
Whatever you do
You so so beautifully
As a past guest of the Rappaports hotel, we were super happy with everything. Food and service were great. The Rappaports are true hotel hosts. Looking forward to spending more vacations with them.
