The Jewish Children’s Museum, the landmark institution in Crown Heights, will celebrate its 18th annual Gala Dinner on Tuesday, May 16.
Guests of Honor include Hon. Katherine b. Forrest (fmr.), who will receive the Ari Halberstam Memorial Award, Hon. Adrienne Adams – NYC Council Speaker, who will receive the City Leadership Award, and Roni Shoyfer of Citizens Bank who will receive the Community Builders Award. Gala Chairs are Joseph and Penina Popack.
Katherine Forrest was one of the lawyers who brought the first lawsuit against the gun manufacturers that made the Uzi machine gun used in the Brooklyn Bridge Attack which killed Ari Halberstam, whom the Museum is named for, and wounded others. She is an expert on artificial intelligence. She was a federal judge and now is part of the prestigious law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.
Adrienne Adams is the speaker of City Council, who have been strong supporters of the Jewish Children’s Museum since its founding. Adams has been a strong advocate for education.
The annual gala welcomes community leaders, elected officials, members of law enforcement, and Museum supporters for an evening in support of the museum which welcomes thousands of visitors throughout the year, teaching people of all ages, backgrounds and faiths about the Jewish culture and heritage.
The event will begin at 5:30 pm and will take place at the Museum, 792 Eastern Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11213.
