A Chasidic Jewish man was struck down by a car in a shocking incident on Friday night in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
The visibly Jewish man was beginning to cross the street on Friday night at about 6 pm on the corner of Albany Avenue and Union Street when a car turned the corner and struck him down.
Surveillance video obtained by the NYPD shows the victim, a Lubavitch man in his 50s, at the corner when a white sedan appears to stop at the light, and then proceeds to drive ahead without warning, mowing down the Jewish man. The driver in his vehicle then fled the scene.
“It appears that the perp intentionally struck the victim,” a police source said.
The victim suffered a broken leg and was treated by Hatzalah.
The NYPD has deemed the attack as a possible bias incident and the Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating.

There is no shortage of people who would rent those apartments. But hey, the owner gets his rent on time from the government so who cares what we all think and how our kids feel.

A vehicle could be considered as an imminent, deadly threat with at least the attempt to cause grave bodily harm.

Driving into someone with a car used as a weapon is attempted murder and no lighter charge should be accepted. Make the animal pay.
It is far worse than an ordinary attempted murder case because it was a hate crime with the intent to kill. He should be tried as a terrorist if it would up the punishment even further.

Try and imagine the fallout if this perpetrator and victim profiles were reversed! The response needs to be extremely strong… I m not going to pretent to know what that even looks like, but the conversation needs to take place as to what this strategy needs to entail.
If it was reversed…. I can remember summer day in 1991 that this happened, except it was in fact an accident and completely unintentional, and it resulted in riots.

I’m not sure what the connection is, but do you think those girls had a clue?! Who would imagine such a disgusting action? It was a strange sight that 2 men came in, but the whole thing was so fast, they probably didn’t have time to process it until later.

It amazes me to see how “members” of our community happily rent apartments in the prime of our neighborhood to criminals, drug dealers, rapists and murderers. And when they give $5 donation to a community school or organization, the whole community comes out to show them recognition…
There should be massive demonstrations outside the offices of these “community members” who happily make these prime apartments into drug infested, rapist occupied apartments.

While I agree that the savage must be caught and quartered, please everyone teach your babies and adults to constantly watch all cars as you cross. Every time I drive anywhere in CH, it is so stressful to see jillions of adults and children not being careful and vigilant as they cross the street, or they frequently stand on the corner but still IN the street, waiting for the light to change. Here’s an afterthought: Since this involved a potential vehicular homicide maybe someone wants to get Sharpton to come down and start a few days of rioting and mayhem, targeting others in the neighborhood. If I recall correctly, he specializes in this kind of stuff.
We need securer borders and a vetting process like Israel has on immigration here in the US. That is the 1st step is stopping these kinds of senseless attacks.
