Three years ago, the Mayanot Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem set out on a $15 million project to positively affect the Jewish future. Thus was born the Mayanot World Center.
The project, kick-started by major gifts from the Rohr Family and Meromim Foundations, will allow Mayanot to massively expand its world-class educational outreach programs. The building will host short and long term programs, becoming a natural hub for students seeking an authentic Jewish experience. It will offer the opportunity for people to join for a class, a week, a semester or longer.
Mayanot is one of the largest providers of Birthright Israel’s free 10 day trips to Eretz Yisroel, bringing more than 5,000 Mayanot participants each year. With the new property, Mayanot groups will be able to enjoy rooftop Shabbat dinners and more.
As a long time player in post trip activities in the USA, Mayanot will now be able to host participants extending their stay at the Mayanot World Center, allowing them to transform their 10 day journey into a lifelong experience.
With the recent addition of Mayanot’s Post High School Program, the need for more space, more options and more opportunity has become very real. As a response, the center will house up to 260 beds at capacity, which can host 260 people for 365 nights a year. Or, will allow enable the creation of nearly 95,000 authentic Jewish experiences.
In 2015, in addition to many private donations, you, the community helped Mayanot raise $2,300,000. More than 2,000 donors came together to give the campaign the spark it needed to move it to the next level. In 2016, it did just that, securing funding from major partners and another wildly successful crowdfunding campaign, bringing in $3,001,000.
On December 26 our annual campaign will get underway, raising $2,000,000. We’re up to the challenge, but we need your partnership! For 20 years, Mayanot has been building Jewish community, Jewish family and Am Yisrael. Today, Jewish community, Jewish family and Am Yisrael can build Mayanot.
