Europe’s Largest Menorah was lit proudly in front of the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin’s most famous landmark and in which the Nazis once marched, with thousands in attendance.
The lighting at the Brandenburg Gate by Berlin Shliach Rabbi Yehuda Teichtel has been a tradition since 2008, as a symbol of the miracle of Chanukah and a sign of vibrant Judaism in Germany.
The Menorah lighting took place in the presence of the Bundestag President Bärbel Bas, and with the participation of the Leaders of all major German parties and ambassadors.
Representatives of many countries, among them Israel, USA, UAE, Hungary, Poland, Spain, and more attended as well. Attending also was the actress Iris Berben, who has won several awards for her commitment to Jewish life.
Throughout Berlin, a total of 35 Menorahs – more than ever before – will be set up in public places and will be lit throughout Chanukah.
