Cops have busted the pyro who set fire to a popular “mitzvah” minibus in Brooklyn last month, officials said Monday.
Joseph Jackson, 33, has been charged with third-degree arson and criminal mischief after he was caught on camera torching the interior of the vibrant, multi-colored vehicle on June 26, according to police.
The Brooklyn man is a known fire-setter — who was once arrested in Queens for torching a building in Laurelton, sources said.
He was just 15-years-old at the time and later confessed, the sources said.
Jackson also has known mental health problems and had been living in a homeless shelter when the “mitzvah” bus was set on fire.
He allegedly signed out of the facility shortly before the incident and back in immediately after.
Cops found video of Jackson buying matches from a nearby bodega before he eventually makes his way over to the bus.
Officers took him into custody on Monday morning.
Sources said Jackson is also being eyed for other unsolved arsons, as well.
The bus that he torched was viewed by many as a staple in the Jewish community due to its religious imagery and colorful paintings.
It was created by Crowns Heights artist Leviticus Schieber as a way to make local kids and other residents feel proud about their heritage.
So Blasio will now give him an apt in the new homeless shelter in Crown Heights so he can be free to roam the shchune and find some more ways to do damage.
people who are obvious dangers to society are quickly freed.
while people who are obviously going to make the world better, give jobs to many, give tzedaka to many, never harm a soul, rae kept behind bars (referring to Sholom Mordechai ben Rivka)
But will he actually get any time?
Give him jail time. And release rubashkim
we really don’t have enough of these facilities’ in our community
