Mrs. Shaindel Tiechtel announced that she will soon transition into the role of Dean Emeritus at Bais Rivkah, the flagship Chabad girls’ school in Crown Heights.
Mrs. Tiechtel has been part of the faculty of Bais Rivkah for 55 years, serving as a teacher of elementary and high school students, and principal of the school.
“It (is) indeed a true merit to be able to fulfill the Shlichus in chinuch that the Rebbe bestowed upon me in Bais Rikvah,” she wrote in a letter to staff.
In addition to teaching generations of students, I especially cherished working together with my devoted and dedicated administrative staff and teachers. Together we faced challenges, together we rejoiced and together we derived much נחת from our students.
“Our beloved school is an integral part of my life, and will forever remain so,” she wrote. “I care deeply about this Mosad, and it is with this in mind that I would like to start a transition process while ensuring that the Chinuch we provide will always remain at the highest level.”
Mrs. Tiechtel said she will continue in her role as principal of the school until the Tishrei 5784 / September 2023 school year. She will then assume the title of Dean Emeritus.
Filling her role will be Mrs. Miriam Heber, a veteran teacher in the Judaic and the General Studies department of Bais Rivkah and daughter of Rabbi Hershel Lustig, principal of Educational Institute Oholei Torah in Crown Heights for over 40 years.
In preparation for her new role, Mrs. Heber will be working alongside Mrs. Tiechtel and the current grade principals, as a school-wide vice-principal beginning in Tammuz 5782 / July 2022.
“Mrs. Heber has experience as an educator as well as being Shlucha of the Rebbe,” Mrs. Tiechtel said. “This year she is a member of our leadership team and has successfully initiated and implemented a number of projects. The Board of our school, as well as myself, have utmost confidence that she will enhance the Chinuch of our students.”

Mrs. Heber is such a dedicated educator!
Will miss her.
You’re going to be great for the school!
We had several daughters over the years who were students of Beis Rivkah high school. Morah Tiechtel took a keen interest in the personal growth and development of each one of our daughters as if it was her own daughter.
We will forever be grateful for her decades of dedication to each and every student that walked through the doors of Bais Rivkah High School.
Morah Tiechtel, we can’t imagine Beis Rivkah without you!
Class of 1987
I think this was her first year as principal or second I was in high school and had two incidents with her. once I got in trouble (was caught reading a book in class) and once I was treated unfairly by a teacher ( teacher thought I made noise during a test, it wasn’t me and she wouldn’t believe me). Both times she dealt with me fairly and reasonably. When I was in trouble she trusted me not to do it again. I was so impressed I never did. and the teacher who mistakenly thought I did something, took 5… Read more »
