A large crowd filled the main shul of Lubavitch World Headquarters – 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn, NY, in the last hours of the Pesach holiday as extra security was noticeable outside.
Vehicles and officers of the New York Police Department, who are regularly stationed outside the iconic Jewish hub, were now there with additional support.
It was only hours earlier that one of Chabad’s branches, the Chabad Center in Poway, California, was attacked by an anti-Semitic shooter killing 1 congregant, and wounding 3 others including the rabbi.
“We are monitoring the situation closely and adding to our Passover police coverage, because of the incident in California,” an NYPD 71st Precinct spokesperson told COLlive.com. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims.”
As the crowd at 770 gathered for the traditional Seudas Moshiach and Seder Niggunim, law enforcement officials kept a watchful eye outside.
The added security was also visible around the Crown Heights neighborhood, home to the largest Chabad community in the world.
770 needs a security guard. It is a known terror target
