Love of G-d, Love of Torah
Brooklyn Heights Jewish Academy (BHJA), founded by Rabbi Aaron L. and Shternie Raskin, is quickly growing and becoming a well-known school in Brooklyn.
Going into its 4th year, BHJA has built on the success of its sister school, Gan Menachem Kiddie Korner Preschool, and is providing a one of a kind, individualized education for every child.
Rabbi Raskin, the Dean of Brooklyn Heights Jewish Academy, believes in upping the standard for both Judaic and secular education. Therefore, the curriculum offered allows the students to learn through fully participating in their studies by providing a hands on learning approach. In addition to the Judaic education, secular NY state learning objectives, and a multitude of extra curricular activities such as Ivrit, home economics, Tikkun Olam, chess, and physical education, BHJA provides students with a real world connection through monthly field trips.
True to its mission statement ‘Love of G-d, Love of Torah, and Love of Israel’, BHJA students have visited the YokeyPokey Virtual Reality Arcade this April to take a ‘virtual trip’ to Israel. Just like the education in BHJA, this field trip was customized for our students to give them the opportunity to ‘fly’ to Israel, visit the Western Wall, the beaches of Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea, Yerushalayim among others, all without having to leave Brooklyn Heights. Other examples of how education comes alive for BHJA students is by visiting the Botanical Gardens to learn about trees and plants for Tu B’Shevat, Parshat Noach was learned through a trip to Carmelo the Science Fellow where the students were able to hold and interact with various animals while learning about them, for Chanukah BHJA kids digitally designed and laser cut their own decorations and dreidels which were then printed for them in 3D with Pixel Academy, and so much more! For the 2018-2019 school year, BHJA is developing a Hebrew immersion program and will also be introducing students to coding.
For the next school year, Brooklyn Heights Jewish Academy is continuing its growth and is currently accepting applications for kindergarten through 3rd grade to fill remaining few open spaces. An Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, May 8th, from 8:30PM to 9:30PM.
The Open House will be held at 427 Sterling Street, Brooklyn, NY.
