We have private kashrus here. What’s the issue
It’s outrageous that one body, which is no more competent or holier than any other, has a legal monopoly on kashrus. Imagine if the OU had such a monopoly here! Would anyone support it?! The whole idea of the Rabbanut’s supremacy over all others comes from the Zionist heresy that the state of Israel is the revival of Malchus Beis Dovid and the Rabbanut is the new Sanhedrin in Lishkas Hagozis, to which all Jews must submit. I don’t think that Tzohar should be undermining the Rabbanut. It’s pretty clear that it’s not going to be a step up. I do think it’s a political move. And a way to undermine rabbinic authority in other areas, God forbid. I don’t know that for a fact. But certain people in Israel’s elite like to pit brother against brother for political gain. Undermining Kashrut is a real pitfall. And no, Kashrut is not a business where competition improves it. It has to be an agency without interest.
