Rabbi Nochem Avraham Jakobovics, from the elder Chabad Chassidim in Antwerp, Belgium, passed away on Sunday 18 Cheshvan 5782.
He was 96.
Rabbi Jakobovics was born in Hungary on 9 Tammuz 5686 to his parents R’ Shimon Yaakov and Breindel Oher.
During the Second World War, he joined a group of Jewish youngsters who lived and learned with the help of Rabbi Schneur Zalman Schneerson, a cousin of the Rebbe.
It was there, during those dark days, that he was exposed to the teachings and light of Chassidus and Chabad and learned diligently.
He was in Paris, France, when the Rebbe visited there and merited to meet and interact with him on a number of occasions.
He shared some of those precious memories in his interviews with the My Encounter with the Rebbe project by the JEM organization.
