the rebbe was against conversions? How come?
Each case had to be evaluated on an individual basis. In general wholesale conversions were not encouraged as most people can fulfill their holy mission in the status in which they were created. Only certain unique individuals are born as non Jews with a Jewish soul.
While this may be, there are halachos involved in how we should treat geirim. Those already comverted must be treated with respect.
b’h b’h The focus of the program was clearly on the importance of the 7Nohaide Laws and our obligation to promote them – something which the Rebbe had mentioned many times throughout the decades, ever since he introduced this revolutionary campaign during a farbreingen celebrating his 80th birthday.
