Sanford (Sandy) David Rockowitz, a beloved father and grandfather who lived in recent years in Crown Heights, passed away.
He was 81.
Sandy was born in 1943 and raised in Rochester, NY. He practiced law for 40 years using his legal skills and his masters degree in social work to defend people with complex issues in Dependency and Family Law. He also did divorce, adoption, and appellate work.
He spent the last 3 years of his life in Crown Heights and was known in the community for his daily walks to Hadar haTorah Yeshiva and his personable manner.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Daniel and Esti Leah Rockowitz, daughter Zena Rockowitz, and granddaughters Chaya Mushka and Aidele Rus Rockowitz. He is also survived by his former wife Barbara Eaton, sister Carol Camelio, and nieces Susan Mortillaro, and Alexandra Camelio.
The Levaya will take place at 12:10pm today, Wednesday in front of 770.
The burial will be at Montefiore Cemetery in Queens at 1pm.
