A new song about looking past our surface and overcoming challenges is sung by its composer Levik Loschak, an 18-year-old Chabad bochur who is the son of the Shluchim in S. Barbara, California.
Loschak has been singing and playing music since he was five years old. He began by teaching himself how to play the piano, and then bought his first keyboard when he was 10.
He has been playing keyboard, singing, and serving as Chazan at Chabad of S. Barbara, his hometown, ever since.
“The first song I produced and released was when I was in Shiur Aleph Mesivtah,” Loschak told COLlive.com. “It was a funny song that I made together with a friend about shish kabobs, and another song about cutting a bagel with a plastic knife (you can find it on Spotify).
“From there, I started writing and producing more meaningful songs, and worked very hard to keep perfecting my skills at producing songs,” he says.
He gains inspiration from his daily life, he says.
“When I am inspired by a farbrengen or by something I have learned, I try to put thought to paper with my music,” he says. “I hope that the messages that I put into my songs can inspire others too.”
His new song “On the Top,” is about “looking past our surface,” he explains.
“Sometimes we judge ourselves based on what others think about us, leading to giving up or feeling like what we do is not that good after all. It’s very important to remember that we all have challenges, and our challenges don’t define who we are, or can be. We all have a Neshama with literally unlimited potential to make this world a place where Hashem can feel comfortable. So, ‘wipe it off and move along on the top’,” he says.

LYRICS:
Strings of turbulence
past innocence
wandering the land
experience
all come forth and
take a seat in the
big hall that was
once a small me
running to no end
too young to understand
why try giving up
screaming till I am fed
all come forth and
lift your feet while
shining forth because I’ll be…
On the top
I’ll be myself on the top
maybe there’s some dirt on me
on the front
wipe it off and move along
on the top
Cameras in your eyes
snapping when I cry
capture this to be
who I identify
doesn’t show the
show inside
that’s pushing forth
against the tide
grew up in a different place
different things I’ve faced
without any questions asked
I could have closed my case
all come forth around my ring
while truly free cuz
All I’m gonna be is on the top
I’ll meet you on the top
That song is amazing just like u
