For almost 13 years Yaldei Shluchei HaRebbe has been offering one thing in a thousand different ways. Support. It’s hard to describe the myriad of unique and complex challenges that come with raising a child with special needs while leading a Jewish community. From finding doctors, to researching therapies, making home and car modifications to expensive treatments, from the need for respite to financial strain, the list goes on and on. At times it can seem impossible. But Yaldei is here to do exactly that, make the impossible, possible.
Recognizing the great and growing need for support for the 350 families of Shluchim raising children with special needs across the globe, Yaldei has been tirelessly answering the call. Over the years the organization has grown to include 4 offices in North America and Israel, with 7 full time staff members, including 3 full time service coordinators. Yaldei is there, day and night, to help Shluchim navigate the needs of their entire family.
In the last year, Yaldei has helped to fund more than $700,000 worth of special needs related care, distributed over $100,000 in scholarships and over $100,000 in camp tuition. With a projected budget of $1.8 million for the coming year, Yaldei is currently running a campaign to make sure no request goes unanswered and no family goes without getting what they need. Yaldei sees each family as a unit, made stronger by tending to the needs of each individual member, they also provide 3 annual parent retreats, programs for sibling support, and place a strong emphasis on helping access mental health care. Whatever is needed, Yaldei is there to step up and help out. Because supporting 350 Shluchim means supporting 350 Jewish communities around the world. Helping just one family, in turn, helps so many more.
