Note from Rabbi Shalom Ber Schapiro:
Sorry about the misunderstanding regarding the melaveh malka of the Frierdiker Rebbe, mentioned last night on our weekly program- THE STORY OF CHABAD IN AMERICA THROUGH THE MINDEL ARCHIVES
To clarify: The melaveh malka we spoke about, was arranged by the Frierdiker Rebbe’s supporters shortly after his arrival in America in 1940. This melaveh malka took place in some hall/shul in Brooklyn (not sure which one).
In passing, I also referred to a PREVIOUS melaveh malka in 1939, which the American supporters had made, as a fundraiser, while the Rebbe was in Europe. The Rebbe’s supporters communicated with and supported the Rebbe while he was still in Europe. This previous melaveh malka, which took place “in the Jewish Center” (not clear which Jewish Center) – the Rebbe was notified about (he was in Europe at the time) and sent them a letter of thanks. This is the letter I made reference to – (we can assume that the supporters, seeing the Rebbe’s pleasure that they had made a melaveh malka fundraiser in the past, decided to do so again now,in 1940, with the Rebbe being present).
I hope this is clear.
We are very pleased to receive positive and enthusiastic feedback about the program and invite you to share your thoughts and suggestions if you wish.

Thank you
Waiting for the next episode
Thank you! This is the highlight of my week!
thank you rabbi Shapiro its an incredible story i never heard it before. hatslacha rabba with your new program.
wow thank you Feter Sholom Bar Schapiro
I can’t wait for next weeks installment.!
This is a very interesting program – looking forward to next week.
However there must be an inaccuracy in this episode. The Freierdika Rebbe NEVER set foot in the Brooklyn Jewish Center on Eastern Parkway – which was a Conservative Temple (and sit in a kitchen to wait for the program to start…).
Perhaps it was in The Jewish Center in MANHATTAN under the leadership of Rabbi Dr. Leo Jung (who was very close to the Freierdika Rebbe).
Otherwise – keep up with this new weekly program.
incredible story! thank you for sharing

Thank you for your retraction and clarification that this (or any other previous) Melava Malka did NOT take place in the former Conservative Temple of the Brooklyn Jewish Center.
Rabbi Schapiro,
Thanks for your videos. It would “seem” that the song you mentioned may have been HaTikva. Was this the song? If not, which song was it.
Thanks in advance.
Thank You very much for this program!
