While Covid talk fatigue during the past 18 months has become so common and where many a conversation and Shabbos table talk has been railroaded, I feel it important to raise some issues that are relevant to us as a community which is becoming increasingly polarized as a result of the vaccine debate.
The polarization is becoming far more concerning as vaccine-skeptics, in the main, are no longer operating as individuals but are forming groups supporting each other, sharing and promoting a range of conspiracy theories – the deep state controlling us, Bill Gates’ micro-chip tracking program and his plan to de-populate the world and the belief that the vaccine will alter our genetic coding.
There are other stories devoid of any medical evidence linking the vaccine to fertility problems, miscarriages and related issues – to the extent that you face these risks if you haven’t taken the vaccine but are in close proximity with someone who has.
It has even been suggested that we need to ‘socially distance’ from vaccinated people in order to remain safe!
Like numerous cults and fringe religious organizations, the vaccine-skeptics appear to need a place to belong and as the social scientist, Konrad Lorenz, famously said, “Man’s desire to belong is so great that it matters not to what you belong but that you do belong.” So overwhelming is the pull of these groups, social media and peer pressure, that those who change their minds and decide to get vaccinated are, at least in some situations, having to do so in secret lest they are exposed for their ‘heresy.’
In fact, a hospital in the state of Missouri has created a “private setting” for patients afraid of being seen getting vaccinated in order to ensure that their vaccine-skeptical friends and family will never find out what they have done.
As a Chabad community, we have a global responsibility. Having recently celebrated our mission and our successes at a most impressive Kinus Hashluchim, our reach extends further than any other Jewish organization in the world. Tens of thousands of Jewish people of all ages and persuasions turn to us for help and guidance. And this is true whether we are formal Shluchim and Shluchos or whether our home is a Chabad House as every home should be.
Disturbingly, a small but not insignificant number are actively discouraging their followers not to vaccinate; some are touting conspiracy theories while others are saying that accepting the vaccine is contrary to the Rebbe’s wishes. People seeking guidance, the vulnerable, others with mental health issues are becoming confused and perplexed; should they follow this advice or should they consult with their doctors?
All of this is the face of a clear Psak Din issued by the Chabad Central Bais Din in Israel about the chiyuv (obligation) to be vaccinated and criticizing those who spread ‘fake news’ about the vaccine. “They are causing much bloodshed in Israel…” the rabbonim wrote. “The requirement to get vaccinated is mandatory, not optional, according to Torah, and one should not try to come up with all sorts of various and strange theories which have no basis in reality.”
Some quote the Rebbe’s support for vaccines with the proviso that they have been tested over time as we don’t know the long-term effects of the vaccines. To my knowledge, this statement was made in relation to vaccines for potential illnesses like smallpox or tetanus. They appear to completely overlook the fact we are in the midst of a raging pandemic that is costing lives every day. And most significantly, if we are speaking about long-term effects, do we know the long-term potentially deleterious effects of Covid which, significantly, are already being documented (as Covid has been around for far longer than the vaccines?) Why is that less important than the long-term effects of the vaccines which, at this point in time, is speculation?
The issue is complex and there are reliable reports regarding the effects of the vaccine which are concerning, but ultimately, this is about managing risk and making an informed decision. And for this, we again turn to the Rebbe unambiguous response to questions about medical issues; “Follow the doctor’s advice.” Not a Rov, a Mashpia, a Shliach or Shlucha. A doctor. And if a second opinion is required that is fine too but from another doctor.
Whether Shluchim and Shluchos decide to consult a doctor, is their choice – although they need to recognize that their attitude can shape the conduct of their communities – but if they are following the Rebbe, they need to encourage their communities to seek informed medical advice from a doctor who can see couples or parents together so they are on the same page – not from a doctor who has an agenda or who himself supports the conspiracy theories. Unfortunately, there are some doing just this.
I have been involved in three shidduchim that failed as a result of a dispute regarding the vaccination of their future children. I am working with several couples facing serious Sholom Bayis issues because of differing views about the vaccine. These issues are usually only part of a bigger picture of discord between the parties but they can also act as the tipping point which decides their future. And families are being divided; ironically, until now Covid prevented families from being together and now, tragically, it is the vaccine that is preventing family and friends from having the contact they desire.
The recent Kinnus Hashluchim again demonstrated the diverse nature of Shlichus and the importance of embracing a vast range of community issues. Covid vaccination has become a central issue across the world. Shluchim and Shluchos need to be informed as most of them are; they need to encourage their communities to access reliable medical advice so that they can make informed decisions. In doing so they are bringing families together at a time when communities are becoming increasingly polarized. This may appear to be a daunting task but it is the call of the hour and an essential part of Shlichus.

Your point is great! We do need achdus but honestly you could have done a better and now effective job by not bringing an opinion on whether to vaccinate or not. You almost lost me as soon as you wrote “There are other stories devoid of any medical evidence linking the vaccine to fertility problems, miscarriages and related issues” spend some time listening to those who have been hurt by the vaccine before calling them a “fringe religious organization and a cult” To those who are really hurt but will not get acknowledged (because science doesn’t agree that having a… Read more »
Well done
If the mandates had anything to do with health, people with antibodies would be exempt.
The proof that this is not about health is that entire groups are exempt from the vax:
Everyone who works for the post office
All members of Congress
All members of a religious group called X-Scientists
When I saw the title, i thought the article wouldn’t address the efficacy of the vaccine. Boy was I wrong. This article will accomplish nothing that it set out to
If the mandates had anything to do with health, people with antibodies would be exempt.
Why are all post office employees exempt?
Why are all members of Congress
exempt?
Why are certain Gentile religious groups exempt?
Vaccinate if you’d like, but please
don’t try to push your ideas on others
There are very real issues with the vaccine
And many people with the vaccine around the world got covid anyways
Be well and don’t preach about this
Well done polarizing the community while writing about the polarizing issue.
The proof that this is not about health is that entire groups are exempt from the vac:
Everyone who works for the post office
All members of Congress
All members of a religious group called X-Scientists
If the mandates had anything to do with health, people with antibodies would be exempt.
So I should get vaccinated if I already had covid??? When the answers stop making sense everything starts getting questioned.
The answer is yes. It’s well know to the educated. I will not debate with you on each and every point. It’s ridiculous. The efficacy from having had Covid does not last. Plain and simple. This is not a gemara shiur. Get real people.
Judging by the ratio of upvotes to down it’s on ColLive articles on this subject, it seems like the percentage of our community that have started following conspiracy theories due to covid is not negligible.
It’s horrifying. The frum world has become synonymous with uneducated.
The vax hesitant know and think critically a lot more than the sheep letting themselves get stabbed.
Have fun being “critical thinkers” once you’re dead from the virus.
Your political rhetoric of “sheep” saddens me. When there is an issue of health we should FOLLOW WHAT THE REBBE SAID & look to the advice of doctors. Not follow what politicians (many of whom are they themselves vaccinated) who want to stir up conspiracy. Enough is enough. People are at risk & dying. Stop putting yourself and others at risk. Stop embarrassing the Rebbe and the name of Lubavitch. It is beyond damaging.
The Rebbe had a letter in which he advised the yid not to take an unproven experimental substance that has not been studied for at least ten years. Maybe YOU should educate yourself on “WHAT THE REBBE SAID” SMH
The Rebbe’s letter on vaccines implies the opposite.
The letter says ” since the vaccine is successful for months proven to be safe.” (Paraphrasing).
There is no indication that a vaccine needs 10+ years of success. Only some months.
The RNA vaccination development has been happening for 20+ years now.
I resent your thinking that you are the smart one and the rest of us are sheep
Do you know you are calling our Rav an animal ? He who laughs last laughs best and stays healthyv
‘Vax hesitant’ is different than being ‘uneducated’ or ‘anti-vax’
Just in this case, it’s the Rabbis that are proudly proclaiming their lack of education
Making an analysis on the basis of anonymous votes on a website is just as anti scientific as the conspiracy theories that anti vaxxers promote
The dude wrote “judging by the upvotes.” He doesn’t address whether that’s a valid mode of judgment
In one article, you are labeling millions of Americans and fellow shluchim as conspiracy theorists.
And bemoaning the lack of unity…!
Amazing.
Do some of your own investigation. Then decide. Don’t be so narrow minded as to label half of Americans so negatively!
The conspiracy theories don’t drive the crowd as much as we care for our survival and good health.
It’s you (in this moment of making such a statement) whose bought into the conspiracy theories against other ppl.
We must unite and heal from a healthy place. Such a place doesn’t coerce others…
Think Rabbi Akivah and his 2400 students..
Sad and true……
Australia is not a free country. They are locking people up in covid camps. I’m not surprised that people there are against it. Who wants to be locked up for not getting a shot ? you are saying comply so it will end but its because people are complying that it is still going. Who wants to take a innefective vaccine when you need to take seven boosters for ten new varients that keep coming out?
There’s got to be another way.
No one in Australia is getting locked up for not getting the vaccine. Australia also is divided into seven states and each state has it’s own pandemic laws. Some of them were and are very restrictive, in others life is was or is almost completely back to normal.
Please stop regurgitating scare tactic information. This is not accurate and it further harms people. Please remember that lies that put others at risk transgress MANY mitzvahs. Please please stop.
The neo nazis being beaten by police were NOT anti vax demonstrators, as widely circulated.
There are NO covid camps. There was some quarantine facilities built at the height of the pandemic which are defunct, and it had nothing to do if you were vaccinated or not. This was a cut and paste video.
Yes there were extended lockdowns in some cities and borders were closed because they wanted to keep infection rates low before the vaccine came out. They saved many lives.
I personally am not for or against the corona vaccine. I feel very strongly that if you have a reason to take it then you definitely should take the vaccine. Here in America the vaccine is a big joke. Threatening a person to take the vaccine or lose your job is absolutely ludicrous. A person has a choice if he/she wants to take it. The last I heard is that the vaccine was approved for emergency use only. Since when is mandating the vaccine an emergency use? The American government has lost there minds. The mandates that they are imposing… Read more »
Millions of people getting put on vents, having to deal with long covid, and unfortunately also passing away, sounds like an emergency to me. The Chabad community lost some very near and dear people to this illness.. when are we going to start taking this risk seriously? This is pekuach nefesh.. and at the very least ahavos yisroel for our brothers and sisters who are at even greater risk.
It _was_ pikuach nefesh for a while. It isn’t now. Compare and contrast the spring of 2020 with now.
Your position is about the same as someone saying that it’s dangerous to visit Spain, because of the Inquisition.
Ask your doctor. Unfortunately today doctors are not really your freind. They are there for the money, not for your health. Sometimes being your own doctor is even better then your doctor because only you know your body. Second point: this vaccine people are against it because it’s not a real vaccine. The real vaccines were 30 years ago, when babies were vaccinated in the hospital, got one shot for each sickness which lasted for life. NOT: EVEN AFTER 3 SHOTS YOU NEED A BOOSTER! Good grief! In addition: medical experts dont believe in natural healing. There is something called… Read more »

Am I supposed to believe that booster shots are normal?! Just like the flu shot we take every winter?! …Wait.
Are you forced to take those annual flu shots, on pain of losing your job or being forbidden to travel?
Are there multiple ones in one season?
The flu is not as deadly as covid- fortunately the majority people make a full recovery. If it were as dangerous, I’m sure it would be mandated as well.
Regular flu has a fatality rate of 0.1%; COVID, 0.6%. Still far too small to justify draconian measures.
COVID has a morbidity rate of .6 IF you’re including those people who happened to “test positive” with the wildly inaccurate tests, and ignoring their other commorbidities. It’s like deblasios crime rate statistics…
Dr. Zelenko
“Dr”
Sorry, my dinner just came out of my nose!
The INVENTOR of this vaccine, Dr. Robert Malone is actively involved in urging people not to take it en masse!!
So is Dr. Geert Vanden Bosch, who was the vice president of Pfizer. These are not clowns! Look it up.
It just so happened Biden declared that the entire world will be cured of COVID once everyone has taken the Jabs. How many times will it take. As far as the Sports world is concerned three national sports leagues are almost completely vaccinated. Football, Basketball, and the Hockey leagues. That hasn’t stopped them from having out of control numbers of COVID cases which they can’t stop. Mr. Clown in the White House doesn’t know what he’s saying. It’s just about power and control over the American people. This has absolutely nothing to do with the health of all of us.… Read more »
many more than just Dr Zelenko are correctly warning against the mrna for younger people. There are actually hundreds even thousands of health care professionals warning against a poorly tested vackx

in the filed that warn about the danger.
besides, now its all about passports etc.. not about health anymore
If c’v there’s a medical emergency, you’re going to call Hatzolah to get a real doctor, not zelenko or the other ones you found on YouTube
All these anti vaccine crazies preaching their insanity, and then they wake up with covid one day and are rushed to hospitals to beg for the vaccine.
With all due respect, it’s not ahavas yisroel to call anyone crazies. With the world in such a crazy state ahavas yisrowl is crucially important. There is a big difference between anti vaxxers and and those that are anti covid vax. I had covid and got nowhere with my local Dr. I got desperate and got a telehealth appointment with Dr Zelenko. He saved my life. Then when it came time to get the vaccine I had heard rumors of negative side effects from the vaccine but I got it anyway. Now I’m suffering from all my covid symptoms shortness… Read more »

You don’t need a conspiracy like you’re describing. Really, all you need is one prominent doctor – Fauci, in this case – forcing some into line. Doctors are human too, and few are going to dare go against the “consensus,” even if they know it’s based on hooey, and risk their lives or parnassah.
And if you don’t believe that such things are possible, look up Trofim Lysenko and his career.
“Dr.” Zelenko has a lot of Jewish blood on his hands. I pray he does Teshuvah
You should do teshuva for all your loshon hara
technically, loshon hara is true, which this is not.
Don’t you mean therefore motzei shem ra, which is false
The same “Dr” Zelenko who made the insane “prediction” that “90% of the ppl who take the vaccine will die within 2 years”.
The guy has lost his mind.
He believes the insane conspiracy theory that there is a plan to “depopulate ” 90% of humanity.
I mean. C’mon. Seriously.
And ppl still respect this man?
This is not an article about division. This is an article about getting the vaccine. Like this whole COVID story it is all about disguise,. Dr. Aaron is from Australia where the group think is so bad that if you are walking outside alone during lockdown “you are killing people”. Australia now has COVID camps that have security and you can get fined $5000 for crossing the wrong line, all the name of “public health” Yes, for now, let’s see what the next steps bring. He quotes Konrad Lorenz as if this is some proof. How about the basic tenant… Read more »

All I’m hearing here is “get vaccinated get vaccinated”. I think your point would’ve been stronger had you remained impartial.
Sick of people with their agendas.
Agreed.
Getting the vaccine is not an agenda, it’s a way to save lives.
Being impartial to saving a life isn’t an option. The writer of this article understands that, do you?
Where is the proof it is “saving lives”? Hospitals are filled with covid patients who are fully vaxxed.
In fact, across the world, icu covid patients population is over 90% not vaccinated!
Actually, they’re “unvaccinated” because the definition of “vaccinated” is more than two weeks post second dose, and with the boosters, the goal posts are moving yet again.
Also hospitals aren’t asking status.
It’s how to lie with statistics. Handy when you want to scare people into jabbing themselves needlessly.
Wahoo you are splitting the social scene with the lies written in this article and pushing your beliefs on others. Most people I know are open to discussion debate and learning the actual science of what and how this shot operates and what are the benefits and risks. Yes there are a few ppl who are quacks on either side but seeing things as you do, I wonder if you belong to one of those extremes because most people are not anything close to your distorted description.
Wishing you success in your journey of self growth!
Nah most people are not open to debate at all. I find the extremists are overly extreme. Those who had covid or children who we’ve seen aren’t too affected don’t need vaccine. However. The others should protect themselves . yes there r treatments .somehow.unfortunately it attacks the lungs too soon. Hashem yerachem
Basically you are not open to hear out another side so you say that there are no open conversations and debates happening, well if you had opened your eyes you’d see them all around. But the catch is that you got to be open yourself….
You can’t debate science and facts.
They are what they are.
My husband lost his job after refusing to get the shot. HE HAD COVID! They don’t care
Exactly .most people aren’t into debating on both sides. No need to be extreme. If he had covid no one wants to listen tht he diesnt need vaccine. And those who are anti aren’t accepting anything either. They believe everything they read as long as it’s anti vax material and are not open to hear about my three friends in last 2 months got very very sick where one actually ddnt survive
I hope your husband gathers with like others and files a lawsuit. I’m glad he didn’t quit. Maybe it could be argued that was wrongful termination and medical discrimination.
Dr Zelenko
U can follow and do what u feel .the problem is encouraging others to follow ur opinion
That man is off his rocker. Find another doctor.
I wonder if anyone realizes their responsibility when they encourage or discourage vaccination. I’m not refering to Drs. I’m refering to my friends who read alot and believe everything they read and they just feel they know it all. I don’t need statistics. I can make my own statistics from all my acquaintances. Unfortunately in the past half year I’ve seen horrible consequences/death from covid to the unvaccinated and a couple of deaths where maybe maybe might be linked to vaccine. Very disturbing to read the nshei newsletter pointing out 10 reasons( where some could and most likely totally false.… Read more »
nshei newsletter should be your very last source for reliable medical info… they were against shots and medicine and pro home birth well before covid
Im proud that Nshei is standing up and publishing articles that people sumbit. Its ok to have two opposing views, arent there two opposing views to almost anything? Its a balance.
Someone really feels deeply that they have a duty to fill by posting it – their intention was not to harm. If you dont like it, there is 10x+ more info from drs pro the vaccine available out there. This small article is like a grain of sand next to it. Just skip it
It is 100% the wrong place to write your OPINION on something like vaccinations etc.
They should have written the true pros AND cons to it. Just saying that it is terrible and bla bla bla doesn’t help and just makes you sound crazy
However, they have no write to even give such advice. They have zero medical expertise.
Yes but that does not stop some from saying those who don’t get vaxxed have “blood on their hands”. They have blood on their mouths.
N’shei is propaganda; it’s editor has blood on her hands.
In the merit of righteous women we will be redeemed!
I’m not following “righteous” women, how in the world does that have any impact on my medical choices? I’m following the smart educated ones.
History will tell which leaders had blood on their hands.
Give lots of respect to someone who is willing to say their own opinion in this single-minded world!
Sad that you can’t handle hearing another possibly correct perspective
I was just coming to write the same thing ab the Nshei Chabad Newsletter. Are they doctors? Do they take responsibility for their posts??
Oh, the horror that an author in a magazine may have different views than you!
Many magazines publish articles about many things in the medical field. A normal person reads the articles, but makes decisions based on their own doctor. There is nothing wrong with reading opposing views or publishing them. That’s the basis of a free society. You don’t like it? Well there’s plenty of countries where the government is in charge of all media, and they only publish things that will keep you safe.
Actually journalism is supposed to present both sides of an issue and quote informed sources. Otherwise its just an opinion piece and should be labeled as such.
It is so incredibly skewed. And if you know anything about marketing you know the impact an authoritative statement has on the subconscious, especially if you’re looking for something to tip you on way or another- and at worst to play in to your delusions. & I assume that phenomenon is strong here since nshei is well regarded. Even if you decide to “do your own research”, this is dangerous.
Do you know how many nurses and doctors are walking away from their jobs because they know the dangers of these so called vaccines and don’t want blood on their hands? Media is supressing this!
This is not a topic for the media! This is a medical issue to be discussed between your doctor.
Part of the reason for the high death rate from covid is the concerted effort by the medical world to not promote or even allow (to put it mildy) ivremectin and hydroxycholorquin. I know people that recovered in days after receiving these treatments. The Doctors won’t prescibe it and hospitals don’t allow it. An all out war on people’s health. Don’t you think?
If the people “died of covid” in certain states, it may very well be murder, withholding medical treatment.
Rite Aid Pharmacy refused to refill my ivermectin. They also refused to sell it to me for $200 cash.
It’s not about saving lives. It’s political. How can they justify a clot shot if there are drugs that work? The EUA is illegal and invalid.
First anyone with any logical brain would question a first of it’s kind vaccine and there isnt enough long term or short term research for you or anyone to say it’s totally safe, people who have had covid have been proven to have a higher level of antibodies than those who are vaccinated , and the vaccines effectiveness has been proven to be low and tends to undo a persons natural immunity and yes two European female sceintists did do a study on the vaccine and the virus effecting womans fertility and hormones and the results were shocking!!! Just because… Read more »
Whats dividing us is the forced mandates, Not vaccinations. I For one am very pro vaccine, but to suggest that the covid vaccine is the same as a vaccines that have been around for years and are safe, is just turning a blind eye to common sense. And dont throw the “experts say” at me.
Forcing people against their will to be injected and applying pressure and propaganda like this writer is no less than tyrannical tactics.
Do you know that the covid vaccine has had more research and testing done on it than any other vaccine in history?
So you’re right, the covid vaccine isn’t the same as other vaccines, it’s actually better.
What do you say to someone when they make assertions that are patently false and disprovable with facts?
You can’t say anything, because their belief is their religion.
Not my religion. In the USA, we are free to practice our religious beliefs.
smh
Whatever happened to free choice? You have to be suspicious of a dark agenda if they have to compel people to take and experimental treatment that hasn’t been tested on human beings and killed all the animals in the study. You have to look hard to find that supressed information!
You’re right
Keep encouraging the vaccine! And for those who continue to refuse, best of luck on your death beds.
The core mitzvah of the Torah. We cant change anyone. You did your part and now Hashem will do his. we cannot change others – if you want to be a good example, that is what people follow.
This is a lesson in general, not even vax specific. I am not for the vaccine bt not wishing death to those who do something that I personally feel is life threatening.
I’m not hoping that they die, I’m just hoping that Gd judges them kindly when they inevitably do.
You’re right, we can’t change anyone. Anti vaccinators will remain selfish until they’re literally dying and causing others to die from covid, so again, best of luck on your death beds.
What exactly makes them selfish?
Imagine someone said, in regards to a toddler’s class “yeah xyz has the flu today but you know I just have such a busy schedule today so i just dropped him off anyways” that selfish, to knowingly do that, because now every little kid in that class is at risk of getting the flu. Their parents did not consent to that, and their children did not consent to getting the flu. Do we say “too bad, I can do with my kid as I want?” No, we understand that we have an affect on the people around us and we… Read more »
Not analogous. The vaxxed are protected against the un vaxxed (if the vax works), and the un vaxxed prefer to take the risk.
well said. thank you.
Of course, you’re speaking science. To one whose religion is injections, nothing you say will matter.
We can learn so much from these people, how to have religious fervor.
agreed if a person is sick, better to stay home. If a person is healthy, why should they make themselves sick?
How is that helping anyone?
Besides, the China study showed no such thing as asymptomatic carrier. Now, VACCINATED PEOPLE can spread disease, or shed. We’ve known this from the DTaP jab. We know this from live virus vaccines like MMR. But a healthy person cannot make others sick. Hence the rule to stay home from school for 24 hours fever free.
Imagine hoping people who are hesitant to get vaccinated will die. I can almost see the self righteous smirk on this persons face as he typed Good luck on your death beds. Is this what we really want ? Or maybe we should be wishing these people (like myself, who had covid for example) that they shouldnt need it and should live a long life regardless of what they choose. I cant even.
Thank Gd someone’s coming out with a pro-vaccine article.
This community is becoming less and less educated by the day, we’ve never needed a leader more desperately than right now.
Does not just come from the radio.
There is so much I could tell you that refutes your basic regurgitation of the mainstream media’s denial of the science. With all due respect, your opinion piece sounds like a troll against intelligent people who are using their Hashem-given powers of reason to dare ask questions about false assumptions, the “But what about ___?” still small voice inside each of us. Great article! Smart people of the world unite!
Conspiracy theorists are the greatest threat to America today. It’s not surprising that so many of them belong to white supremacist, pro-gun, trump supporting extremist groups. They must be shut down.
You mean like the conspiracy theory about Trump being a “Russian asset”? Oh, wait, that was on the Democrat side.
Or the one about Hunter Biden’s laptop being Russian disinformation? Whoops, another Democrat one.
Say, there seem to be an awful lot of conspiracy theories among anti-Trump, anti-gun extremist groups. Better start shutting them down too, hey?
Trump supporters are crazy!
I think we need a two state solution right here in America.
Same tactic used by these types throughout history. Turnspeak is what they called it during WWII as I recall.
In fact, it is a good rule of thumb, that whatever they accuse the conservatives of, is exACTly what they are guilty of themselves.
Once you can translate their language, it’s quite interesting and predictive.
1. Does the vaccine immunize you against getting covid?
2. Does the vaccine prevent you from spreading covid to others?
3. Why are the entire medical community, medical and government bodies totally negate and ignore the natural immunity that according to science is way stronger and more effective than the vaccine?
4. Why write an article about achdus when you are clearly biased and taking a side?
Hence the skepticism
Natural immunity is not stronger or more effective than the vaccine, I don’t know where you got that “information” but it’s false.
Achdus isn’t about losing sight of humanity, it’s about bringing people closer together through kindness. Getting vaccinated is the kind thing to do. Get it done.
Why exactly is it kind?
Maybe have some achdus and accept peoples decision not to vaccinate!
I’m not sure what “We will said (we’ll is contraction of we will)” refers to, but your comment is very witty and to the point. Thank you.
I caught a lot of hypocrisy in this piece. It was kind of amusing, although reading the comments it seems that sadly there is a very serious pandemic of a lack of critical thinking.
and thre are good answers. Indeed, think about it: why are entire medical community, medical and government bodeis all over the world basically saying the same thing? Why are the hundreds of thousands of frum doctors not endorsing Dr Zelenko? Why are the hundreds of thousands of frum doctors all over the world not protesting the vaccine? Are the entire frum medical communities (with very few exceptions) in cahoots trying to harm the Jewish people?? Or, are they all just plain ignorant? or stupid? DR. ZELENKO LOST HIS JOB FOR PUBLICIZING HIS SUCCESS IN TREATING PATIENTS WITH HIS PROTOCOL!
Why-because humans are subject to peer pressure and follow the crowd-even when there is glaring information otherwise! Americans pride themselves as free thinkers, yet many just go with common advertised opinion.
As I said in an earlier thread, let me join the worldwide whatsapp group!! Greatest secret of all time held by millions of doctors across the globe! Did you know that Dr fauci is personally in cahoots with COL even?? In fact, I’m pretty sure he himself wrote this article.

As a liberal, progressive Chabad individual living in Crown Heights, it can be so discouraging to see so many insane, unvaccinated people pretending that their beliefs are based on anything substantial.
It’s nice to know that there are other educated Chabad Jews who follow science and reason.
You can others insane…
It seems that for many liberals the idea of being accepting and loving only applies for whatever they give their stamp of approval to love and accept, otherwise these beliefs of love and acceptance, not only turn to the side, but turn to hate and insults. How sad and revolting.
Is it hard for you to see liberals love and accept people of color and other marginalized groups in this country?
Is it hard for you to see us shut down hate and racism and misogyny?
I’m so sorry if we’ve hurt your fragile feelings. That must be very hard for you.
that you haven’t responded to his or her point at all. Where in earth do you get, for example, that they have anything against “people of color and other marginalized groups”? Or is it simply that your “liberalism” is a cover for looking down on anyone who doesn’t agree with you?
You started off sounding like you cared about the community being divided and then soon enough made it obvious you had your own agenda. You are part of the problem with your condescending and patronizing tone!
And then he proceeds to polarize, seemingly oblivious to what he is doing, with name calling (a.k.a. ad hominem attacks) against anyone who does not agree with him about the COVID vaccine! He characterizes as “conspiracy theorist” anyone who disagrees with his camp, even if the disagreer is not one. He characterizes unfairly in other ways too. It is sad to hear a Rabbi of his stature lowering himself to such polarizing and cowardly tactics — the refuge of bullies, I am sorry to have to point out . Perhaps there is hope. Brave people are standing up for the… Read more »
They believe that the unvaxxed are endangering everyone who is vaxxed. Where is the logic in that? If the vac works, you’re protected right? If it doesn’t work, why are you forcing it on others?
If you don’t yet know how viruses and vaccines work when we’re almost a month away from 2022, then I suggest you do some research now.
Vaccines protect the person who is vaxxed, correct? Why should I get vaxxed to protect everyone else?
What great logic! Those who are worried should mask and vax-if they work, the person has absolutely nothing to worry about!
Bravo, bravo, bravo! I applaud your bravery and sensibility.
Alas, your words are wasted. Our community has become uninspired, unintelligent, and uncaring. Where the Rebbe was once Moshiach, now it is a yellow-haired ex-president who controls our brothers’ hearts.
Hubris, arrogance, proud ignorance have become the hallmarks of who we have become.
I cry for us and I cry for what we could and should be instead.
You said this perfectly.
I applaud this comment, because it’s sadly completely accurate.
Our community is a joke.
When ahavas Israel is replaced with the attitude of indifference, intolerance, shaming and shunning then that leads to trouble. If you will love a person and respect their decision then that builds community. If not it destroys. Community means unity.
Keep crying, but not because of our community.
Rather because of the complete incompetency and corruption of the democrats and the nursing home patient they installed as prez.
What does trump have anything to do with anything, it’s literally his vaccine and and he encouraged it multiple times.
Talk about uneducated
Gates showed diagrams of the covid “virus” long before Trump. They were preparing this mRNA before his presidency too. Get your facts straight.
You’re too delusional to waste my time on.
AOC 2024!!
By definition it is not a vaccine…
The virus is not a threat to everyone, not a threat to the majority either…
Never in recent history (last 200 years) have people acted so irrationally and rediculous…
All a sign that Moshiach must be very close
Everything done in the last 200 years was rational?
When we’ve become complete morons and refuse the vaccine that Gd Himself sent us, He’s probably all like “these idiots, I either redeem them or watch them continue to kill each other out.”
Let’s see what happens!
Despite great mass vaccination in Israel among other countries-why-pray tell-are the viral rates climbing?
smh psychotic people do not respond to logic. the only way to snap them out of it –think about slapping a hysterical person –is to scare the bejeebes out of them, by redirecting their fear to a legitimate fear. Like the totalitarian tyrannical take over of humanity in a concerted effort modeled on the first holocaust, using the same playbook with capricious ever more restrictive rules with no basis in logic whatsoever, and the concerted effort to pit neighbor against neighbor. And don’t use the word holocaust either because many have been brainwashed to actually believe that “never again” is… Read more »
So true that families need to stay together and when I asked a Rav regarding something related to the vaccine his reply was paraphrased: as long as both husband and wife are on the same page. However the author writes:: The issue is complex and there are reliable reports regarding the effects of the vaccine which are concerning, but ultimately, this is about managing risk and making an informed decision. And for this, we again turn to the Rebbe unambiguous response to questions about medical issues; “Follow the doctor’s advice.” Why does the author assume all doctors encourage the vaccine… Read more »
but well over 15,000 doctors who advise it!
millions of doctors, in fact.
“Millions of doctors”? Do you know how many people there are in the world? About 7 billion. Do you know what that divided by 2 million is? 3500. Do you seriously believe that one out of every 3500 people in the world is a doctor? And if you’re that innumerate, why should we believe that you know anything whatsoever about science or public policy?
However according to the last WHO count in 2018, there are an average of 1.5 doctors per 1,000 people. The ideal would be 2.5
Neither the vaccines nor natural antibodies work against the new Omicron variant. As of today, according to the New York Times 13% of New York Covid patients have the new Omicron variant, and it is growing by the day. What I want to understand is WHY do stores in CH not obey the new law, which started yesterday, that all stores in New York State have to have both employees and shoppers wearing masks? They are doing this because in the last two weeks there has been a 40% increase in hospitalizations from Covid, and Covid is surging because of… Read more »
Omicron (or, to call it by an anagram, Moronic) may be “the most highly transmissible,” but it causes at most mild symptoms. The discoverer of it in South Africa has pointed that out. There is not a single death so far that has been shown to be of Moronic. On the contrary, there’s evidence that getting it protects against the other variants. So what exactly are you “sick and ashamed” about? And, maybe if the “health experts” hadn’t completely shot their credibility with all of their lies and backtracking and pretenses and so forth, people might indeed be more concerned.… Read more »

I was disapponted by the bait-and-switch of the headline vs. the actual article. I am looking forward to you (or anyone else) writing something about achdus on this matter. Achdus can only be made by somone that accepts both people’s perspective. As eucated and smart you may be, unfortunately, you cannot bring achdus by making fun of one of the parties you’re trying to unite. Thanks in advance! If yes, it must’ve been the day I missed…. There’s an agenda going on among media news outlets. Those that are one sided, are corrupted. Even if on a personal level they believe one way, for the sake of true news for their readership, both sides should be written about. Let the people decide for themselves.
Unfortunately in our community there is a polorisation, in that some people are pushing there negative views of vaccines on others, and making them feel uncomfortable. Therefore… Being that my view- that the vaccine is safe and affective is correct, those that agree with this opinion should be forcing our views (and policies) on those illiterate, anti science, anti vaxers, and of course making them feel uncomfortable by calling them “Rodfim”. We should all speak to our doctors (only if they will say “you must get the vaccine”, and if not your doctor is a whack, and you should find… Read more »
Did you not just contradict yourself? Ask a doctor – why take medical advice from a doctor? Dr. Zelenko – who has nothing to gain by trying to save the world and gets death threats because of his outspoken stance. Dr. Robert Malone – who knows more about this than R’ Aaron could pretend to? Dr. Malone developed the mRNA technology – listen to him and make your own… Read more »
just like the rebbe would have wanted.

This is how we take care of each other <3
I’m sorry for you. Less chance you will be around in 5 years
Based off facts and science, your anti-vax self is going to end up in the hospital waaaaaay before I do.
Whether he realizes it or not, in essence this is what the author is saying.
If this community put any effort into educating themselves, then we could help this country move in a progressive direction.
Just imagine it. A world where orthodox Jews were not just preaching about kindness, but actually practicing it too. Wild.
As political pundits like to say: It’s the economy, stupid. Though a somewhat rude choice of words, it does bespeak a deep truth: It’s not about what people think it’s about. Confused? Here’s the deal, Dear Rabbi: Most people who are in fact called anti-Vax are not anti-Vax. They may have taken the shot, or have a loved one who has. Or they may have antibodies and not feel like taking the shot. These people are not anti-Vax: THEY ARE ANTI-MANDATE. Or to paraphrase James Carville, It’s the Mandate, Stupid. People are highly concerned about the spectre of the govt… Read more »
Great point that its the mandate and not a truly anti vax issue.
Did you see the Nshei Newsletter? It was vociferously anti-vax, spouting the worst fear-mongering falsehoods! Anti mandate is a whole other story. That’s reasonable to debate. Like welfare or immigration or gun laws…etc. Good reasonable talking points on both sides. I’m afraid, though, this is not what you’re hearing and seeing in our community. The anti-vaxxers are anti-science, anti-truth, pro-fear mongering. And, interestingly, mostly pro-trump. Mostly (Not all) with barely a high school education, if that. Mostly ignorant of the scientific process, not to speak of science itself. The anti-vaxxers who are waxing eloquent about dna and mrna and how… Read more »
If Anti-Vaccine groups are right, then they should be protesting and banging down the doors of Medical Schools within Universities.

Imagine a world where liberals didnt hold some people responsible for some things that happened before they were born (whites) and others not responsible for things that their doing right now (BLM).
I know, would’ve been cool.
Happens to be that all the liberals I know are the most disgusting, self serving and centered human beings I’ve been acquainted with.
Nice to meet you! Hi, I’m a liberal. I was raised in an open minded home where all people from all backgrounds are accepted and respected. We believe in equality for women. BIG feminists in my house <3 We believe that systemic racism is real and that we, as white people, have a responsibility to dismantle the system. We believe that everyone should be allowed to marry whoever they want. Can you even imagine telling someone that they're banned from loving another human being? We believe that women have complete autonomy over our bodies. FEMINISTS!! We believe so many beautiful… Read more »
that you don’t believe in Torah. Yes, we who have learned the Torah and follow it can well “imagine” “telling someone” – a Jew – “that they’re banned from loving another human being,” a non-Jew. Get the vaccine if you want it. No ones stopping you. However it is disgusting to force people to get a vaccine or lose their jobs, or be barred from public spaces when vaccinated people can spread covid just as much as those who don’t have it. About fertility? There’s plenty of data saying that there have been cases of miscarriages r”l that may be connected to the vaccine , but it’s too early to know for sure. How is the achdus from the pro vax towards those that don’t want to take it?
All we hear from them are threats, shaming, and constant nonsense how our not vaxing is not allowing theirs to work and putting them at risk???
Seriously???
Where is the respect, courtesy, and understanding that not eo thinks like you and we’d like to each make our own choices for ourselves.
And where’s the logic that you need me to vax in order for yours to work
Sorry this achdus approach is quite a twist to what achdus means
My husband lost his job for not getting vaxxed after 25 years and HE HAD COVID
I’ll bring this up the next time someone tries to tell me that McDonald’s is his choice of ‘kosher’ and that I sould respect his choice if I want him to rspect my choice of kosher. Even steven. If you want respect for the truth, then you need to respect the false.
Between breaking Halacha and refusing/holding off a medical injection. Show me one place in the torah that is says you must vaccinate against covid. (And not “vnishmartem es nefshisechem” bc this vaccine doesn’t really do much in that department.)
So he is not allowing different opinions on the issue, only get along if you believe in the vax.
“Believe” in the vax.?? It’s not a religion. It’s science. You don’t ‘believe’ in science, you believe in G0d. Science is what makes you go to the dentist when your tooth hurts, or what makes you get in a car to drive somewhere, or what you’re doing in the drugstore to fill a prescription. You don’t ‘believe’ in science,
The issue is not getting covid, it’s the lack of treatment that caused the hospitalizations and deaths. No need for vax if people took ivermectin, hydroxiclorin, etc.
And also prevention of serious cases by taking vitamin d, quercetin, zinc, vitamin C. People who followed this had less serious cases.
This is so important! Please list your credentials so that I know I’m getting good information from a reliable source. Thank you.
You dont need credentials for common sense. Hundreds of people I know have been protecting themselves well with vitamins etc-including myself. Thats enough evidence for me.
The fact that these two words are missing from this Op-Ed says it all: the op-ed author is highly selective about what “science” he relies on.
I respectfully ask the op-ed’s author to stop ignoring the plethora of peer reviewed worldwide immunological scientific studies affirming the superior immunity status of those who have recovered from COVID. That is, superiority over the “merely vaxxed.”
Then we can talk, Rabbi.
The day my natural immunity becomes recognized by the “establishment” as providing protection against the virus (as good if not 7x better that the vaccine), I will begin to trust the establishment again.
I’m not holding my breath.
Why do you think that people that are refusing the vaccine are uninformed and uneducated Maybe because they are informed they choose not to take it? And how do they know which variant it is? Suddenly the whole world has a test ready for this new variant?
Between uninformed and misinformed. In this case, it is the latter.
There are a number of new vaccines coming on line, some have been held back. More affective and on traditional platforms than the current drugs. Even these have to struggle against interference.
They’re Psak is absolutely not relevant internationally!!!
If they may rule on this, that’s only for their community.
The disaster they cause there keep it there.
Except the local battei din ruled the same way! Badatz of CH came out numerous times for the vaccine. Problem is no one here has any respect or kabalas ol!
I haven’t seen this psak. Please provide details.
How’s about you link to one single such letter?
Ever wonder why?! For the same reason children dont respect their parents today. Parents have to deserve the respect but they only know to demand it which according to halacha is incorrect because they may not burden their children with kibud av vaaim. Dont expect children to have kabalos ol when their parents dont have it.
If somebody wants to encourage taking the vaccine his article should be full of the studies, proof of safety and efficiency of the drug. Every time I was ever prescribed something by a doctor I read up about the side effects of the drug and asked the doctor for a risk vs benefit analysis The only thing my doctor said about this vaccine is that if you don’t take it you’ll loose your job So make your risk vs benefit analysis based on that When I asked about safety he said no one knows for sure but he has heard… Read more »

Everyone has right to they’re opinion learn not everyone thinks and has to think like you your opinion isn’t others many has had adverse and deathly reactions so please realise to respect as students of Rabbi Akiva couldn’t handle others thinking differently what a shame this is worse than carona
Vaccine isn’t working it’s only harming make more care more travel more pollution no snow for children and put them masks and vaccine can’t clean the world of pollution toxins causing brining problems more and more
I can’t think of one Lubavitcher Rav who is anti Vax. This attitude of each person doing what fits him without consulting Rabanim is disgraceful!
That is pro vaxx! (Aside for Israeli ones that we don’t go by).
Rabbis should not be counted on for mediCal advice. Doctors should.
NO ONE knows what the right way is. So be humble.choose to vaccinate if that’s your guess, or avoid the vaccine if that’s your gamble. And daven for health in whatever you chose
Rabbis in Israel have very little room for having their own opinions when it comes to government matters. Remember what happened to rabbis that spoke out against the pull out from Gush Katif or similar matters. They get arrested and harassed.
For me to take the vaxcinne. Idk there is not enough data and info of it. We dont know what this vaccine is going to do us in 5 years from now. People have a choice.
Lots of us are hesitant because it’s new.
What would you do if with your own eyes you saw a loved one get hurt by the vaccine???? (I know most are fine)
And a dear friend with another bad side affect that is long term……
It’s your choice
TO EVERY UBER CHOCHOM ON THIS BLOG IT IS A VERY SIMPLE CHOICE!
WOULD YOU ANTI VAXXERS PLACE YOUR HEADS IN FRONT OF AN ONCOMING TRAIN?
IF THE ANSWER IS NO, THEN THIS IS THE CHOICE YOU HAVE BECAUSE THE DEADLY OMICRON, WHICH NEITHER ANTI BODIES OR 2 JABS ARE EFFECTIVE, IS COMING TO A STREET NEAR YOU, HEAD ON, AND WITH 800k ALREADY DEAD FROM COVID IN USA YOU HAVE A CHOICE…..LIFE AND TAKE THE BOOSTER AND PROTECT OTHERS, OR DEATH CV.
Really? Has even one person died of it yet? Show your work.
Facts from where?
This is the mildest form, and ppl don’t die from this variant.
Please.
There is so far one new death WORLDWIDE from this new variant.
The South African doctors are telling everyone to relax, and in fact get this variant bc it is a lot milder and is a safe way to be immune.
Oh, and I think your keyboard is stuck in caps lock. Not sure why you needed it.
But “with.” Well, people die every day with dandruff, with hangnails, etc. That doesn’t mean we need a worldwide campaign to eliminate those.
#MAYBE BECAUSE
IS ANY CITY MISSING THEIR VILLAGE IDIOT?
ITS DEADLY AND HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS!
Now imagine the same article on the flip side point of view..
Ppl dividing cuz the religious vaxers look down at the ones that don’t want to get vaccinated…
The moment the doctors and scientist who are disagreed with an official party line silenced you know it is not about our health.
That someone being “silenced” automatically means it because they know a hidden truth. We silence the neturei karta, and non jews say “See! They speak the truth! And they are silenced by the Jewish community!” Why do we silence them? Because they are wrong and their misinformation is dangerous, not because we are covering anything up. Nothing to do with silencing whistleblowers and everything to do with doctors holding their peers to a standard where no one causes unnecessary death.
If they’re wrong and their misinformation is dangerous, then you counterattack with facts. If you don’t, then it shows you really don’t have any.
The internet is FULL of facts about the vaccine and how it reduces risk of death. And doctors are trying to share factual information as well but they can only yell so loud.
As long as you ignore natural immunity, you’re ignoring science. (Or as they like to call the anti-mandate people “anti-science”)
We DONT hear you !!!!!!
Other communities has Psak NOT to take the shots, based on hours of testimonies of top experts and reports given to the heads of their Beis Din. Say Something !!!
The Badatz has put out NUMEROUS letters and publications urging people to get vaccinated. That you don’t like their psak doesn’t mean they didn’t make one!
Get vaccinated!
And I suppose you can link to even one of those “numerous letters and publications”?
Conspiracy theorists need to be silenced, they are causing deaths all over this country with their lies.
Go get vaccinated, save a life.
It’s not a conspiracy theory.
My one-healthy family friend who now has heart issues is not a conspiracy theory.
The woman I know who had a miscarriage is not a conspiracy theory.
Why should these people be silenced? To make you comfy in your view of “sCienCe?”
We are becoming increasingly polarized over vaccines, and your article articulately demonstrates why that is the case. What you are essentially saying is – you are entitled to your opinion, if it is the same as mine. Otherwise I will preach kindness and togetherness while dismissing your opinion as ridiculous (conspiracy theories) and shaming you into submission to my view. So it’s not the polarization you care about, it is the differing point of view. This is not the traditional anti vax vs vax argument. Our current situation is a lot more nuanced, and there are valid arguments on both… Read more »
Dear Rabbi Aron, I assume that neither you nor the community over here do really know, who Konrad Lorenz and his studies was. Based on “his” results – he came to the conclusion that also human beings have to follow “the law” of “Ausmerzung Minderwertiger” what equals in english language “eradication of inferior”. Thats because everyone in ch got covid akready at the start of the pandemic and killed everyone that was shayech to die from it.
Other countries such as australia didn’t have that so they need to vaccinate si it doesn’t happen when they open up
I know two people that tested positive for covid twice, one also being double vaxxed, and more than thirty people that were double vaxxed and still got covid.
The vaccine does not prevent you from catching covid. It doesn’t prevent from passing it on. It may lessen the covid symptoms that one might have. So it just protects yourself. (People who have been sick with covid are still testing positive for antibodies 18 months later.)
So if the vaccine just protects oneself (potentially), why do people care if I choose not to “protect” myself?
Agree what do poeple care if you are pretected .
That is false. Ask your doctor.
It protects you from getting it, although there can be breakthrough…far less common though.
If less ppl catch it less ppl spread it and automatically less deaths. Why do you think they are giving it to kids? They are in no danger. Its so they dont kill their grandparents c”v.
Besides, the doctors are all saying that if everyone is vaccinated the virus wont spread and it will die out and we can all move on.
“If less p[eo]pl[e] catch it[,] less p[eo]pl[e] spread it and automatically less deaths”
Really, now? Have you not heard about asymptomatic transmission? People who have been vaccinated are perfectly able to spread it too, because it gets into their system same as anyone else’s, and then they can spread it same as the unvaxxed. The CDC has said as much.
Gee, for folks who pride themselves on their “following the science” rather than uneducated guesses, there seems to be an awful lot of the latter by them too…
On a general basis, I am quite reserved. However, I feel that something needs to be said: I am just another voice among many others, or perhaps I am a lone voice? You did the right thing, and you should be proud.
Exactly how, does your being vaxxed protect someone else?
That most of the vaccine hesitant people do not hold views like your mother. We just want to be left alone until we make our decision based on facts and data to take this vaccine, or have natural immunity.
I’m sorry that you had to experience such pain, may Hashem help your mother see past those crazy theories.
That a side effect of the vax is that it messes up the cycle.
Not a secret, not a conspiracy theory, not a dream.
It’s common and well known.
Hopefully it’s temporary bezH
Upon asking our Rav- who is most reputable and practicing for many years, the Rav said to follow the advise of our doctor. We were advised by our doctor NOT to take the vaccine as my husband and I had the Covid.
Will quote the doctor- Natural immunity is far more effective than the immunity from the vaccine. We continue taking our weekly HCQ and Ivermectin. May Hashem protect Klal Yisroel everywhere.
Not for you to share anonymously on the internet. Every person/situation is different.
I think that by the misleading title of the article it achieved the opposite effect. Clearly the article is about the merits of the vaccine and not about so much the polarization of the community.
That being said, I do agree that too many Lubavitchers and Frum people in general are falling prey to ridiculous arguments and conspiracy theories that could put to shame the average redneck out there. How embarrassing.
People: Educate yourselves! Vaccinate! Cut the stupidities!
… please upvote or downvote this comment. Just wondering how many people make it down here.
One comment that made me smile;)
Thanks!
Your article would have merit if the title wasn’t about polarization!
During such unclear times, and the science is very unclear and misleading (fully vaccinated with booster and got covid) we should all adapt an attitude of live and let live. Everyone should do what they deem safest for their bodies and their families.
Vaxers and anti vaxers both try to do what they can to keep themselves healthy. It should always be a personal choice.
Well said!
So, if I don’t follow the dominant narrative (one that is spun by the corrupt MSM, corrupt politicians and the social media giants) and in the process lose my job and get ostracised and barre going to shul, communal functions, and participating in society in general, then I automatically subscribe to group think? Fair call. I’m also part of a cult? I always thought that isolating, ostracising and segregating people was one of the key hall marks of a cult? But what would I know? I’m not an expert on cults.
