The family of Rivki Holtzberg, slain Chabad emissary to Mumbai murdered in a terrorist attack, is searching for the Shabbos dress and diamond ring she gave to an unknown Israeli backpacker.
An Israeli daily said the backpacker originated from northern Israel and that she was in trouble with the law. She escaped from prison and managed to come to the Chabad House in the Nariman House.
Rabbi Shimon Rosenberg, Rivki’s father, who lives in the city of Afula in northern Israel, said that his daughter was afraid at first to assist the fugitive, but eventually helped the girl.
“Rivki dressed her up with her Shabbos dress and gave the girl her own diamond ring so the girl looked respectable, and that would let her slip away from law-enforcement and leave the country – and that’s what happened.”
Three months ago, when Rivki and her husband Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg were murdered, the family expected the fugitive backpacker to contact them and return the items that may have saved her from Indian prison, but she hasn’t done so yet.
“I call on this girl, whom I don’t know, to consider the family’s feelings and return Rivki’s Shabbos dress and diamond ring,” Rosenberg asked.
“My daughter did a Mitzvah and helped her. Now it’s her turn to do a Mitzvah and return the items,” he said.
“The dress and ring are not worth much, but for us they have great emotional value.”
Whatever the case, shes special
i thought she came back during the shiver:(
i wish it would just apear like the terrorists did
hatslocha in finding it!
p.s. do you have a picture of it thet u could put on col?
it would be helpful!
thanx
Whats the real story?
to confirm:
the girl who took the ring gave it to the rosenbergs during shiva and told them the story for the first time then.
it was returned to the rosenbergs, but they still want to meet the person who gave it back. so they can follow up with her on many other things
I agree to post 15, the athuroties could tell us if there was even a story like this, thet we would stil not know, if it was returned or not. Also, I heard that it was a male Israeli that they dressed up as a woman in that famous Shabbos dress, and maybe it IS after all a Purim story, as in post # 6.
Indian Authrotites should have Information on this fugitive.
She lent or gave the ring? Why title this “someone who took it” which implies stealing????
I suppose this collive.com reporter should enlighten us on his sources for this article. If he can’t or doesn’t, it makes one wonder.
Heyyy! I thought the woman returned the ring and dress when the Rosenbergs were sitting shiva? What is the real story?
This story went around in an email, but was followed with another email with this:
“I have a relative who asked Mrs. Rosenberg (Rivky Holtzberg’s mother) about this story and she said it never happened..
It does sound like a wonderful story, but unfortunately it’s just a story.”
the story of it being returned was told at the Shluchos convention….so someone had to know the facts before telling it to alot of women.
me to can i join in the detective meeting?
can i join in this detective meeting?
ding a lings, have you ever considered that Rivkie told her family what she had done, now they are asking for its return?
i was also told this story never happened. i am confused,
is this supposed to be a purim article?
that she didn’t tell anyone, but later it was returned, so that’s why we know this… who has the facts? or who’s getting them confused?
I was told that this story never happend, and the whole thing was made up.
Rosenberg knows the story because Rivkah told it to him after the incident as every daughter would tell her parents such things
same Q as Comment 1 ???
i thought it was returned to them and thts how we know the story??
