Fantastic Shiur like usual. I heard in the name of R.Mottel Kuzliner o.h. that when the Rebbe Reshab returned from a trip out of Russia, he commented to the Freirdike Rebbe, that I was blown away with the dress of the other Chassidim’s long jackets. But I decided that it should be”Veniflinu” so it will stay. Plus in the original Toimchei Temimim they had to wear jackets until the knee.

If so, the question really should be how come other chassidim wear bigdei shabbos all week? Not how come… Read more »

Apparently in 1848 there was a gzeiras halevushim, stopping wearing long jackets, long period, beards, and the shtrimel. The Tzemach Tzedek asked the Ruszhiner who said it’s not “Yaharog Val yavor. In any rate the Chassidim in that area of Belarus, stopped wearing Shtrimel’s and wore short jackets ( Slonim & Karlin). Dispensation was given for the Rebbe and family. Lubavitch chose the Kapota replacing the outlawed bekitcher, saying it’s a horse riding tails Prince Albert, not Jewish, just they had it long at the front instead of cut out.R. Itcher de Masmid wore a Bekitcher.
