A Jewish woman at a train station in Crown Heights was verbally attacked Monday by a woman who hurled racist slurs and threatened her.
The incident occurred at the Subway station at Utica Avenue and Eastern Parkway on Monday morning.
The Jewish woman was approached by an African American woman who began hurling anti-Semitic remarks at her about her Jewish religion and her wig, worn for religious purposes. The woman also threatened to throw the Jewish woman onto the tracks, police said.
The victim reported to the incident to the police. She was taken to transit district 32 where she filed a report and the case was referred to hate crimes for investigation, police said.
Since they have a picture of this criminal woman they should be able to arrest her quickly.
Freedom of speech
Harassment and threatening and not forms of speech that are protected by the Bill of Rights.
She charged towards me screaming “I’m going to push you on the tracks.” BH the train came then so there was nowhere for her to push me. I believe she also got scared because one video I have is of her screaming that I can’t record her and she’s hiding behind a pillar.
It’s so scary to live like that
Hope Jewish lady is ok
Shaken up, but baruch hashem I’m ok.
Why? Why is this happening? Why do all these people behave like this?? We have done nothing to them!
They don’t fall into that category. No, people don’t behave like this. And they are actually motivated by the fact that ‘we have done nothing to them’ – they are encouraged to commit the crimes without fear because they know that we don’t behave like them.
Between Utica and Franklin it’s the worst and through Atlantic ave it’s pretty bad too, basically a free-for-all. Over the many years I’ve seen the decline. It’s really not a place for normal people anymore. This is more a symptom of the times we are living in and the downward spiral of society at large. I have been harassed and once assaulted while sitting in the train. Fare jumping is the most common way of entering the station at Kingston. Stand upstairs for just a few minutes to see for yourself. I haven’t actually seen a police officer at the… Read more »
I much prefer taking a longer walk and catching the B or Q near Prospect Park: there’s a much more civil crowd there, overall. And it goes to Atlantic Ave., too.
There needs to be NYPD and or NYC Transit Police patrolling each and every station 24/7. There is absolutely no reason why this isn’t already happening. This lunatic, as well as the thousands of others wandering around Crown Heights, would have immediately been apprehended. Instead DeBlasio wants to open up the jails, let the animals out, put them back into Crown Heights, and then pretend that there is no problem when homelessness and crime increases.
