In a show of unity and pride, Jewish families across Central Africa joined for a Lag BaOmer celebration that was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The event was organized and sponsored by Rabbi Shlomo Bentolila, Head Shliach to Central Africa and brought together Jewish families from 15 diverse countries, and especially highlighted each of the 10 Chabad centers and Shluchim families.
Close to 900 people took part in this first of its kind celebration since announcing the new achdus cooperation in Central Africa.
Hundreds of texts and video clips of happy children participating and dancing in the program from families currently in Africa, along with many families currently in Israel due to the current world situation, as well as families who used to live in Africa, were sent to the Shluchim with words of appreciation and thanks.
Chabad Lubavitch of Central Africa currently has 10 Chabad Houses located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Kenya, and Ethiopia and also serves the smaller Jewish communities of other countries such as Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Gabon.
