As Bais Rivkah kicks off their annual fundraising campaign, donors around the world are rallying to support the beloved Chabad girls’ school in Crown Heights.
As a flagship institution, Bais Rivkah has pioneered the Lubavitch educational system for girls that prepares young girls for their futures as Jewish women and as community leaders, role models, and educators.
Beis Rivkah has been an anchor in the Rebbe‘s historic efforts to dispatch energetic Shluchim couples who illuminated and ultimately transformed the Jewish landscape.
An example of how the Rebbe cherished the school was during the groundbreaking ceremony of the large Campus Chomesh on Lefferts Avenue, named after Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka Schneerson, OBM.
It was on eve of the Rebbetzin’s birthday, 24 Adar 5748, and the Rebbe was on his way to the Ohel at the conclusion of the Rebbetzin’s Shloshim. The Rebbe’s car stopped at the construction site and gave Rabbi Shemtov his participation of $470.
Another example is the special leather-bound, gold-embossed notebook commissioned in 5710 in order to record the names of those that would contribute to Bais Rivkah, with the Rebbe being the first one. The book is currently in the possession of Rabbi Avrohom Shemtov, Chairman of Aguch of the Bais Rivkah Board of Directors.
“I am joining with those that do good deeds, and taking part in this special fundraiser for Bais Rivkah to pay off their debts,” the Rebbe handwrote.
“It is my hope that every one of our fellow Anash will do so too. May The Rebbe, my father-in-law—who established the institution and was dear to him, will surely arouse mercy on them and their entire family, that they should be blessed with all their material and spiritual needs. M. Schneerson,” the Rebbe wrote.
